efficient to do all quests when leveling other characters?

as the title suggests, i'm wondering whether or not it's worth to do all the quests that become available to you when going through the acts when leveling other characters.

obviously, for a new player playing for the first time, or you're playing with a friend who has never played before, you're going to be doing all the quests. when you start to play other characters and you just want them to get through the early acts as quick as possible to the other difficulties, are side-quests still worth doing that aren't necessary for advancing further or select certain ones while just grinding in certain areas for a bit if you happen to need to catch up in levels more efficient?

I (and I assume many others) tend to skip Great White Beast, Golden Hand and A Dirty Job when running through. (I just realized how dirty those three quests names sound when put together)

Other quests to potentially skip through are Medicine Chest and Fairgrave's Quest in act 1, because they're just too damn dangerous at Cruel and Merciless.

yea, even on normal sometimes the unique for the medicine chest quest could get rough and then on cruel i almost died on one of my characters since i was being a bit careless.
I always do all the quests - feels untidy otherwise (OCD much?).
But if I were to choose which quests to leave out, it'd be those that have respecs as a reward. The medicine chest quest is another one that could be skipped due to the rewards. The flasks you're offered aren't that great and the skill gems you probably already have.
This leads to another set of quests which you can actually skip - those that have skills as reward. Unless you need a specific gem.
Since you get good experience in those quests, I wouldn't skip them, though. You can get your XP by grinding Fellshrine or Docks, though.

Edit:
Hailrake used to be a PITA, but with some caution and cold resists it's really not that dangerous to do the quest anymore.

I generally end up underleveled, and since I absolutely hate content grinding, I'll complete sidequests at an appropriate level for those zones.
