Best single target DPS spell (from your experience)

Not really sure where to go from here, need a RANGED spell (aka not getting in their face to shotgun GMP) for single target/boss DPS, with 4 links.

Fireball with conc effect? Ice spear with cold pen?

The highest damage you can deal for single target spells would probably be something like Fireball, concentrated area, power charge on crit, then Faster Casting, Increased Critical Damage, or Increased Burning Damage. Or ele prolif if you want to see if you can melt everything nearby the target on crit.

Shock stacks from maybe Arc or something, and obviously you'd need a Searing Touch. Yeah, I don't think any other basic build would be able to do more hurt per hit with whatever damage nodes you take.

Though if I were you, I wouldn't take my advice. I don't play spellcasters.

Ethereal Knives with faster projectiles + added fire is very powerful.

I use bear trap for my single target deeps, but i am a trap build XD. I've seen people though use ice spear without lmp/gmp for single target dps before.

I think Ice Spear is very good because of it's insane crit chance. 4L: Ice Spear, Increased Crit chance, Increased crit damage, Ice Penetration.

But power charge on critical or faster casting works well too.

Ice Spear for the freeze, 100%. I dont even know if its the best DPS, but its just the best.
