Painful blast of static sound on exit

I have a Creative SB Audigy SE sound card, and recently I've been playing with software audio (-swa switch) because it seems to help with a serious gameplay stuttering problem I have. With software audio enabled, when I click the menu button to exit the game I immediately get a very short burst of high-pitched static sound in the left sound channel. I usually play with headphones on and the sound is pretty painful despite not seeming very loud.

I'm in the same boat as you. Creative Audigy sound card and also using the -softwareaudio when running the client. Having said that, I've heard this static only a couple times. So I don't hear it all the time, but I have heard it. I too play with headphones so I know the feeling. I am unsure if it was the left or right channel.

I use to play with the sound off because of the issues with PoE, but I really like the audible currency sounds for when I'm farming quickly.

Same problem. Realtek onboard audio. Updated drivers and the problem still remains.
The static is really painful especially with headphones on.

>> Thread resurrection? This was the most recent thread with the problem I could find (not that I really looked that hard).

Just here to say that I'm also experiencing this problem.

I got the same problem. It's rather annoying and I've had it for a while.
This should help those with creative cards. For the others, it may also help. Also try updating your drivers.

The problem is not in "error" or BSoD. Read the thread before tossing unnecessary advice

There is 1-sec. (loud\annoying\etc) "blast of sound" effect, when you're closing the game
Also can confirm - happens not only with Creative Audio, but with "simple" AC97

P.S. and yes, i know how to handle my PC. Specialist degree (or whatever it called in your education system)
But the issue is still exist

The software audio flag clears up a LOT of various sound issues people have. Had you bothered to read anything other than the first post of that thread you would have seen that.
