The Actual Problem With Map-Only Uniques
" Because access to that "harder content" isn't limited by difficulty but rather time spent on the game (currency to keep rolling maps that keep dropping maps at those ilvls). Sure, difficulty plays a role in that but not nearly as much. @Aelloon

" what ? Im not one of the top of the ladder or anything, but I do like to play a game were playtime put in the game gives rewards for it, not only "PRAY TO THE RNG GODS" I know there is still a lot of rng involved in it but atleast you have to put time in to the game to get to that rng pool :) not just kill a merciless piety and pray before checking the loot. Edit: and ye for most poeple that spend time doing something they get better at it :) Demonic Sauce Last edited by Dem0nic#2986 on Nov 6, 2013, 9:51:42 AM

" Its the internet :) Funy how people consider themselves casuals when they are not casuals. They are console gamers. And create console gamers threads like this one and destroying PC games. Why you should try Harcore http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/209310/page/1

This post was a good point that has been way too sidetracked.
Rares should be able to be better items than uniques. That's now how the game currently works. I don't usually bother picking up rare items. Biggest offender: rarity or quantity on unique items. Andvarius is the biggest offender, but there are plenty of other ones. It's this horrible spiral that you don't see until you have played for quite a while. Uniques with magic find are the best way to find items, which means you need a build that can use them, which means that items for those slots are worth nothing. The biggest issue is magic find, but uniques being better than rares doesn't help. |

" Hah. You think? I may have never had enough currency at any given time to make a big ticket purchase, but I never saved my currency either, because apparently they weren't worth saving for then. What makes you believe I think they're worth saving for now? Yeah, I personally am fine with it. The group I spoke for, however, is almost definitely not fine with it. Sorry about that, map buddies. " hmm yee, I do however have a rarity gem linked to a spell with culling strike that I use on rare mobs/uniques, and I do know I can get more from gear but that would mean I would probably farm a little slower so seems to come out on the same spot. I might be terrible wrong, but my drop chances are decent atm so I'm good, wouldnt hate having a currency % modifier tho !!! OH BABY edit: and a currency rarity bonus OMOMOM Demonic Sauce Last edited by Dem0nic#2986 on Nov 6, 2013, 10:04:26 AM

The distinction in casual and non-casual gamers is nonsensical and comes across as childish behaviour from those who try to use it as an argument.
A good game is designed in a way that it caters to all players the same as that benefits the company producing the game the most. Anyone saying things like "lol filthy casuals..." disqualifies themselves immediatly for any future argument. Your sense of elitism is way off and you should rethink what you are even saying there. I am not sure why "hardcore" players feel it takes away anything from them when everyone is able to access all kinds of game content. The jealousy is very much not on the end of those "casuals", it is in fact the other way around. A sort of protective jealousy if you will. "Hardcore" players feel like something is taken away from their pride once everyone gets access to what they have, even though they de facto do not lose anything. |
