Preparing for the OB

You don't have to explain that groundslam isnt a projectile 10 times a day NOW? im pretty sure someone asks what CI is about 20 times a day at least in the HC chat. it might get slightly worse, but with all the keys being given away atm i dont actually think it's going to be that bad. The worst thing is probably going to be trolls, who will be in large supply because its a F2P game and they can easily spam accounts. Otherwise, I doubt it'll be such a big deal come OB.

For those of you who have been around to see an Open Beta weekend or two, you have a sense of how things will go.

As mods, we'll do the best we can to keep the forums orderly obviously. Zalm lays out some good advice, though. It would be a huge help to us and to GGG if the existing community could help to regulate itself. It'll be bad. There's certainly no doubt about that, at least for a few months. Once all that dies down though, the goal is to still have a quality community left over afterward. You guys have the ability to set the tone for the forums and chat that will carry on into the future. Over time, the newcomers will either conform to that tone or leave.

I've laid out what I believe is needed on the mod side of things to make a public release as smooth an experience as possible... GGG has taken some steps towards that.

We shall see what other weapons we're given when shit inevitably hits the fan anyway ;)

We can only hope the games community and population stay relatively small. With a smaller community, there is less likely to be more trolls. But when the games fame, popularity, and notoriety grow, more people hear about it, and thus attracts more individuals. Including those fanboys from D3. Hopefully that can be avoided.

Thank you tpapp. I try my best to be nice and sincere about my gaming, in every game I play, even CoD...(shudders) If we keep ourselves on the polite side of things, as a community, and keep the players who troll on a leash, we would be far better off than some other games out there. What we need to do is steel ourselves in preparation. The better we deal with the problems, the faster they go away. The faster they go away, the more quality the game and forums will have. The more quality they have, the more fun they are. And honestly...thats why were all here, to have fun anyway.

I'll try to answer as many of the "easy" questions as i can so the mods can focus on more important things - posting a few links and answering a few questions shouldn't be too hard even for me.

Maybe a new sticky thread for "newbies" would be nice with the most important threads and stuff linked (unique list, passive skilltree, item list, mechanics thread, ...)
