Steam client won't start

Don't know if these forums are the correct place, maybe, but here goes.

I downloaded the game from steam right on launch, since yesterday it has been having this weird thing where I click play, it gives me a window that says "launching path of exile" (it always did) and then it does not launch.

The steam overlay switches my icon to in-game in path of exile for the duration of the launch window, but once it is gone I'm not "ingame" anymore, and the client never launches.

I've re-downloaded the client from steam and it is still doing this, any ideas?

Try running Steam as Administrator, or else you may need to run a pack check

doesn't work. Tried the above, and verifying the game cache. Nothing, even downloaded the PoE client from the web page and it won't boot, same issues as the above poster.

Hey! I posted this already multiple times here, but I don't think GGG have seen it yet: I have the same problem, and the only thing that fixes it is re-installing my video drivers... And this is not a problem of the NVidia driver I use, but of PoE, since everything else runs fine, and PoE ran fine on most of the driver version I tried for months until the last update.

Now I have to re-install the video driver after every reboot in order for PoE to work again. This is annoying, but I didn't bother to write a ticket yet since I hoped some GGG employee would finally see one of the multiple threads with people having this issue :) Maybe I'll open a ticket today, or you can do it, if it really is the same problem for you.

So here's what worked for me:

1. i re-installed video drivers
2. i got the same "preparing to (...)" and nothing happens
3. downloaded and started normal non-steam client
4. closed the non-steam client
5. tried steam client again
6. game did start this time

you can probably skip steps 1 & 2

it wasn't working for me, then I found out I needed to missing .dll files

msvcp100.dll
msvcr100.dll

and now it works fine! runs from steam and everything.
try going to program files/steam/steamapps/common/pathofexile and try running the game from there, should show you if youre missing them when you try to run it.

Same here, since i downloaded this game from steam it fucked up my steam and all the game on it, i cant launch anything (nogthing happened, just nothing, no error message...).

How to get the missing files u talking about ? (msvcp100.dll, msvcr100.dll)

Take 30s to dl and install and it worked fine for me, i will be able to test this game now :))
