Quest - Deal with the Bandits
Hey guys, I think the answer might vary here depending on the class/spec build, but what are there default rewards that people should always go for?
Like [Normal] Krait, [Cruel] Oak, or [Merciless] Skill Point? I'm playing softcore ATM, but I'd appreciate opinions for both softcore and hardcore if possible. I hear [Normal] Oak is pretty good too. Thanks. |

He just wants some info on what the best decision might be. Maybe he's new to the game and he just wants some help. You don't have to be rude.

normal - oak if life based, if not typically kraityn, allira if you've got something specialized in mind
Everything else is really up to you and how you want to play. | |
" grow up and give an grown up answer, right now you act really childish, sorry. To answer the OP - usually +40 HP is useful for all classes WHOs not using a skill who gives themself Energy shield instead of Life. :) But cruel and the last might be more of a choice what you want to pick. here you can read about quest rewards: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Deal_with_the_Bandits Last edited by marremurt#7928 on Nov 2, 2013, 4:57:25 PM

Most people get Oak (+40 HP) on normal unless they are going for an Energy Shield build (CI/Lowlife).
Cruel/Merciless are highly build dependent. |

" It does. I would say as soon as one choice or another becomes the clear favorite for all builds, that's a sign that things aren't balanced properly. If I had to pick an overall default, I would say the skill point should be it though. There are skillpoints which will give similar effects to anything you can get from the other rewards. It may not be AS effective as the actual reward, but it will be something close. Also you can always respec skill points into something else if you change builds, but you can't change the other choices yet(though this will be changing soon apparently). Keep in mind though that the point you get from this is only as effective as the LEAST useful skill point in your final build(not counting ones that you only take because they're on the way to something else). For a more detailed analysis though: Normal: Help Kraityn: +8% to all elemental resistances (does not include chaos resist). Help Alira: +40 Mana. Help Oak: +40 Life. Kill all: 1 Passive Skill Point. This is the one place where skill point should probably not be your default choice. Unless you're going CI or something like a low-life build, for most other build, more hp is always a good thing. 40 life is a lot and probably more than you will be able get from taking the skill point. As for the other rewards, resists are always nice but you should be able to get those from gear for the most part and there are plenty of good resist nodes on the skill tree itself. Better to take the point and use that on a resist node if you need it, since then you will be able to respec out of it once you get better gear and no longer need it. Managing your mana is also important in the game, but especially now with nearly all auras being percentage based rather than fixed amounts, this is probably the worst choice for MOST builds. If you've built your character and are managing your mana properly, you won't need this. If you're not, having 40 extra mana will mean you might be able to get off one more skill before running out, but still seems like that's only delaying the inevitable. Cruel: Help Kraityn: +8% Attack Speed. Help Alira: +4% Cast Speed. Help Oak: +18% to Physical Damage. Kill all: 1 Passive Skill Point. Much better balanced here than on normal. I'd say this one depends entirely on your build. The skillpoint is always a good choice here, but the other options are worth considering for many builds as well. If you're a melee or bow user, attack speed is certainly nice. If you're mostly relying on physical damage, 18% bonus there is certainly nice as well. If you're a caster, 4% cast speed may be useful in some cases as well. Merciless: Help Kraityn: +1 Maximum Frenzy Charge. Help Alira: +1 Maximum Power Charge. Help Oak: +1 Maximum Endurance Charge. Kill all: 1 Passive Skill Point. Obviously any of these charges are only useful if you have some skill that requires them and another skill that will generate them. If you're using a discharge build, obviously you'll want to take one of these. If you're running a flicker strike shadow, you want more frenzy charges. If you're relying on enduring cry/immortal call to keep you alive, an endurance charge is the way to go. If you're not using any of these skills though, obviously go for the skill point instead. |

" Unlike you i sympathize with the OP, because one glorious day, i to stumbled upon this website and downloaded PoE. Just like the OP i had no clue about the game's basics, and just like OP i wanted my first build to succeed right away (<--- WHAT A JOKE RIGHT HEU HEU gotta love PoE). So just like OP is doing now, i to was gathering as much information before i started that i could get! And then i proceeded to enter wraeclast. If you denie you where spoon-fed, you are pretty illogical, because either it be because of experience/gamepedia or the forums, you to had to learn the basics of the game at one point, and denieing this would be retarded. @op : hodari gave u a wonderful wall of text to read, enjoy. " dunno what u talkin about when i lvlup my first char i go to wiki to see what rewards in other diffic. to make right decision. Its too simple- compare rewards with tree nodes, thats all. My first post/thread on forum i make on lvl 75+ and it was shop thread. I even dunno why i should make thread ask random people make decisions for me, i have head on shoulders and wiki for info. Its very easy to detect + 40 hp reward for any hp based char its musthave choise, and so on. Its hardcore game FFS, HC players dont need crutches for every step as new players generation, like omg no big exclamation mark - cant play this ign - FancySneakyDevil
