Critique my summoner build please.

90 Point Summoner Build:

I am trying to create a build with the most elite pets I can have. The Idea behind this is to put the brunt of damage and survivability on my pets and not on myself. The reason behind this is so I can reduce (or eliminate) the cost of high end gear and crafting of leveling gear.

Basically, I want as many pets as possible and have them as strong as possible. I am also wondering if this is even viable. Please leave comments below I will respond as quickly as possible.

It's viable for non-hardcore leagues, but it's not what I'd call optimal. I would ditch Minion Instability quickly. After level 40 or so, it's not so great. I would also get double curse, it's too good to pass up. Eldritch Battery seems like an odd choice for a Necromancer. I assume you're doing it for auras.

Minion Instability is great if you do not plan on being spectre-focused for your minions.

No I was planning on a primarily Zombie build with spectre support. Also, yes eldrich batter with multiple auras for minions

At a glance your build looks decent; I like your path to the left to obtain Sovereignty.

I agree with David that you pretty much have to take up dual-cursing as a necromancer (really nice for casting a debuff + vulnerability, such as enfeeble + projectile weakness depending on spectres), but I disagree that you should drop MI at level 40. MI is delicious until you're at the point where keeping your spectres alive is more important than the substantial increase dps that MI provides, which tends to come later in the game for most summoners.

Since you noted you're trying to get by without much gear, you're probably going to need to pick up those resistance nodes along the way...

I do plan to pick up a dual weakness and I want to try out elemental conduit as well with cold snap and added fire damage on minions. I will revise the build. Another thing I wanted to bounce off you guys was the idea of building in the same general path with out picking up the minion nodes then using the 18 free refund point to spec out of increased spell damage at higher levels to pick up dual cursing and minions. I will post those builds here in a bit.

Ok there is 43 points between these two builds. What I need now is a way to shrink that down by eliminating unnecessary dps nodes.

Revised Leveling build: 25 point differencial

This build eliminates excessive elemental damage increases with out suffering any loss to critical strike. This reduces the node gap substantially.
