changing physical look of weapons and armor

hello there.
yesterday i played another rpg and found khopesh sword http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khopesh  and i tought. there is microtransactions where you can add item effects or skill effects. but how about making mincrotransaction that can change physical look of your item? for example i have broad sword, but i want that he will look like kopesh. or like samurai sword. or changing axe to scytche? We can already use skin transfers i don't see how we would need anything else.
