Please Give an Option to Turn Off Orb-Candy

I will never understand people that seem to be fine with all the torture and graphic violence of this, mature rated, game yet complain about barely noticeable nudity or partial nudity.

I am not trying to troll or belittle the people in question I genuinely don't understand it. How is violence and torture more acceptable than partial nudity?

Regarding the Orb "Candy" in specific: Given all the references to slavery and other horrible things that go on in wraeclast, I personally feel they are somewhat appropriate. I interpreted one as a take on atlas and his burden or perhaps hueilemire has fallen. Both classic works of art and both representing a person straining or falling under a great burden. While The other I interpret as holding life close as one would cling to a love or lover. Perhaps it is just me.

My wife thought the UI was beautiful and absolutely loved the imagery. Though she doesn't play the game itself because she prefers more casual games.

I don't believe they are GGG being "edgy" or whatever the hell it is called these days. I just think that the GGG artists have pulled from many classic art styles for inspiration. People complaining about the barely noticeable nudity ingame, I think, are just looking for something to complain about and be offended over. Perhaps they feel it is "Edgy" to get offended over classic art styles? They do however remind me of the types of people that led to many classic greek statues getting plaster fig leaves glue to them as well as other defacings

People need to grow a pair of balls. And if you are female, don't grow balls, just get the sand out of your vag. It's a game, its art, if you don't like it go away or toughen up.

As much as GGG goes out of their way to appease all of you babies, you STILL find crap to complain about. Art is always subject to opinion, I get that, but they shouldn't have to change it.

Because you took the time to write a thoughtful and serious post I will indulge you with a direct response. Look to the post directly after yours for evidence of why I feel like it is usually just a waste of my time.

It isn't that partial nudity or even full nudity is a problem, it is a combination of things. Women being objectified and treated as sexual objects that exist for the pleasure of men is a real problem, in games and elsewhere, and has nothing to do with artistic expression. It has to do with marketing and oppression, with repeating to people the world over that women only have value if they look pretty and that they exist to be fucked by men. It is a basic tenant of conservative political ideology, unfortunately, which has much of the "civilized" world in its grip right now.

The key here is, your UI is not a part of the story. It has no context, it does not change to reflect events as they occur in the game. It is just there to look pretty and convey important information. It has NO JUSTIFICATION for forcing players to look at oppressed semi-nude women the ENTIRE TIME they want to play the game. I get it that a lot of men expect women to be subservient all the time in real life, but that doesn't mean we need to pander to them, and doing so is harmful.

Furthermore on the matter of artistic expression, I roll my eyes SO HARD whenever anyone tries to compare the orb candy to the works of great artists. Yeah uh, the orb candy is not a great work, sorry to bring reality into this discussion. It is 2 mostly naked women chained to the player's balls. How is that for artistic interpretation? I don't give a shit if it is inspired by Greek statues, it is not a Greek statue itself, and was certainly NOT created for the same reasons those were. Anyone who engages in this justification is doing a massive disservice to actual sculptors and classic masters. They would be insulted if they were alive to see their greatest achievements compared to the UI in Path of Exile.

My strongest characters in his game are all female. I can't think of a single other game that has a choice between male and female characters where I can say that. Also, I could see some validity in your point if they were actual people, but they are statues. As for being forced to stare at them, a huge percentage of people never even notice them, because they are watching the action. Put a piece of duct tape in your corners.

As for whether the Greeks would be offended, I happen to know that Myron, Phidias, Polyclitus, Praxiteles and Lysippus were pleased by the comparison. Scopas took a bit of offense but he's always been ornery.
