Blood Rage totem ?

I wish Blood Rage wouldn't link with spell totem.
do support gems have a list of compatible skills ? or they just check the type ? and blood rage just happens to have a compatible type.( active spell ) with the current design, the combination creates a totally useless totem that does nothing but die slowly, and makes it impossible to share some support gems between blood rage and another spell totem ( like faster casting, increased duration ... ) Is this restriction part of the design or was it simply overlooked ? It works because you can have the life leech aspect proc on spell totems, which will heal the totem. At least I think that's how it works.

yeah but a blood rage totem can't attack, and you can't have another totem attack and have blood rage at the same time since blood rage is an active skill and not a support gem.

It links because it's technically valid. That's all there is to it. Far from the only pointless link:
You can link Added Fire to Fireball/etc. It can never do anything unless you get a flat Physical damage bonus to Spells. Can never get Conversion to Physical either because it exists vice versa. You can link Concentrate AoE to Lightning Arrow, which only reduces the AoE in which it seeks targets - LA doesn't deal Area Damage so it doesn't benefit from the Damage boost. Added Accuracy has always linked to Shield Charge, which used to have 100% Chance to Hit innately (Qual could technically be useful...). Pen gems on Skills that don't deal that Damage type. Andsoforth. |

What's the problem? Do you want to cast BR but the only green socket you have free is one linked to a spell totem? That is about the only case that I can think of which would make this interaction a problem.

He already explained why it's happening: he wants Increased Duration and Faster Casting on both Blood Rage, and a Spell Totem (presumably there's a second active Skill there too). Pretty legit.
