Elemental Damage with Weapons

I'm curious how damage calculations in a certain situation would behave.

You do X amount of physical damage. With gems/skills you have N% of physical damage added as elemental damage of whatever type. If you have increased elemental damage with weapons does that effect the percent elemental damage added?

Lets say you do a physical attack that adds 50% as fire

100 phys
50 fire damage + weapon elemental damage of... 50% = 75 fire damage

175 total damage

---------
100 phys
50 fire
10 fire from gear

60 fire +50% 90

190 total damage
If you're interested in in-depth calculations...

You do 100 melee physical damage using a sword
Your Wrath aura adds a flat 30 lightning damage
You have Hrimsorrow gloves that convert 25% physical damage to cold
You use L5 Heavy strike that has 20% increased physical damage and 150% damage effectiveness
You have melee physical damage gem which adds 30% more melee physical damage
You have added fire gem that adds 40% physical damage as fire
You have Weapon Elementsl damage gam that adds 50% more WED
On passive tree...
You have 10% increased melee physical, 20% inc sword damage, 30% increased one-handed weapon damage and 40% melee physical damage from strength
You also have 10% increased weapon elemental damage, 20% elemental damage, 30% fire damage

First you do the adds and converts to get base damages
On your 100 base damage added fire adds 40 fire and hrimsorrow converts 25% to cold
You end up with 75 physical, 25 cold, 40 fire

### Physical part has the tags [[sword (melee weapon), physical]] so following increases apply:
20% increased physical damage from gem level
10% increased melee physical
20% inc sword physical damage
30% increased one-handed weapon damage
40% inc melee physical damage from strength
- These all add up to increase physical portion of 75 damage by 120% bringing it to 165.
- Then we got 'more' bonuses, these don't add up, they multiply the total damage from previous step, you can multiply base too but this way is more intuitive, I guess, so we multiply that 165 physical damage by:
1,5 for heavy strike damage effectiveness brings us to 247,5 damage, then by:
1,3 for increased melee physical damage gem giving us the final physical damage of 321,75, rounded down to 321.
Game always rounds down but only at the final step, it still works with decimals in-between.

### Converted elemental part has the tags [[sword(melee weapon), physical, cold(elemental)]], so it is affected by all increases that affect the physical damage part plus elemental ones, again, all increases add up, all 'more' effects multiply.
120% increased melee physical from previous step
10% increased weapon elemental damage
20% increased elemental damage
- So that 25 cold damage is increased by 150% to give us 62,5 cold damage
- Then we apply 'more' bonuses that multiply it by:
1,5 for heavy strike damage effectiveness brings us to 93,75 damage, then by
1,3 for increased melee physical damage for 121,875 and
1,5 for WED support gem which brings us to the final 182 cold damage

### Added elemental part has the same tags as converted as it's practically the same thing, the only difference is 'converted' reduces physical portion and 'added' creates damage out of thin air so you can sort of consider it another multiplier on your damage while converted is a way to widen the field of modifiers that affect your damage. So, it has tags [[sword(melee weapon), physical, fire(elemental)]], making every previous bonus affect it with the addition of fire damage one:
120% increased melee physical from previous step
10% increased weapon elemental damage
20% increased elemental damage
30% increased fire damage
- Base fire damage of 40 is so increased by 180% in total giving us 112 fire damage
- Then we apply 'more' bonuses that multiply it by:
1,5 for heavy strike damage effectiveness brings us to 168 damage, then by
1,3 for increased melee physical damage for 218,4 and
1,5 for WED support gem which brings us to the final 327,6 fire damage

### Flat elemental damage on your attacks, wrath aura in this case, isn't affected by any physical damage modifiers, it has tags [[sword(melee weapon), lightning(elemental]], because it's still applied with a sword, so only the following increases affect it:
10% increased weapon elemental damage
20% increased elemental damage
- So base lightning damage of 30 from aura is increased by 30% for 39 lightning damage
- It is also multiplied by only
1,5 for WED support gem which brings us to 58 lightning damage

It is very important to respect the double tags on effects, so aura lightning damage bonus from the previous stem even though it is 'melee weapon' type isn't physical so no 'weapon physical' effects apply. On the other hand, it's 'melee weapon elemental' so 'weapon elemental' bonuses apply, if there were nodes that increased 'melee elemental' or 'sword elemental'(got such nodes for maces), those would apply too.

A good example is converted or added elemental damage if using unarmed, converted fire portion of infernal blow is [[unarmed(melee), physical, fire(elemental)]], so no 'weapon elemental' nodes affect it but 'melee elemental' if there were such, would. Or see explosion that infernal induces upon target death, that one is just fire since technically it isn't applied directly with a weapon, it has tags [[fire(elemental), AoE]] so only such nodes affect it, 'weapon elemental' ones don't work. Never trust tags in skill gem descriptions.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
