babble missing the point

you somehow missed the point - what is the deal for GGG? because we know theyve got no money, i assume they had their own mice/headphones before that so what was the deal for GGG if you claim it was mutually beneficial?

have any stats on that?

Here's the benefit for GGG: http://www.razerzone.com/

Front page product placement on the website of one of the most well known hardware manufacturers for gamers. It's business 101, not a slippery slope to Mountain Dew flasks.

No... that's not product placement. That's not what it is. That's not how it works. If something uses this form of advertising, it is injected into some form of media such as a television show, movie, or, in this case, a game. The idea behind product placement is it is forced upon the people enjoying that show, movie or whatever. And if it's done well, it sends a subtle subliminal message (subliminal advertising). If it's done well, it shouldn't degrade the integrity of the media it was injected into. This means the focus should never be on the thing that was advertised via product placement. That's what makes it subliminal. In some cases, the product placement is executed poorly and becomes grossly obvious (as is the case with the Razer footprints). I'm not trying to kick up dirt here. I just want to clarify this. I still love the game and I am certainly not looking for an excuse to leave it as someone suggested. You can see it as stamping my feet if you like. I'm not trying to insult anyone here.

Someone suggested that any existing financial supporters should be given an option to turn off in-game product placement (starting with the tacky Razer footprint logo). I have donated a total of $290 so far since closed beta (I am including the $20 I paid for myself and a friend to get closed beta access). I know this is peanuts in comparison to the donations of some people who don't even care about the poorly injected product placement in the game so please don't make that the point. The point is anyone who has donated money to this game should have the right to turn off in-game advertising (once again, starting with the tacky Razer footprint logo). Chris, if you're reading this, please implement this feature for us as soon as possible. Then you can stick all the product placement you like in the game and I won't care because I won't have to look at it. I don't want my immersion in Wraeclast broken by modern day corporate advertising inside the game. Once again, I am not insulting anyone here. This is a plea to implement an anti-advertising option for your paying customers. I am sure I am not the only paying customer who would appreciate this.

P.S. - Flames and/or insults will not get responses.

People act like they are forced to see it all the time. If its not rare now I bet it will be in the near future.

Chris already responded that they will not continue to do this so everyone needs to chill.

There seems to be debate over whether or not that's what he meant in his apology.

Your donations don't give you the 'right' to ANYTHING in the game.

In fact it's almost incredulous that you would suggest a supporter be given special treatment.

And you are NOT a 'paying customer'. Your transactions are donations, not purchase of any service. The game is free to play and does not require payment to play it. GGG does not owe anyone who has supported them with finances ANYTHING.

Your entire post is such a bubbling QQ, you should be happy the deal GGG made with Razer could bring more players into the game, and not be so embarrassingly selfish.

If you are unhappy that some green slithering snake footprints are ruining your 'immersion' while at the same time bringing new players into the game, then just take your ball and go home.

Disagree. They owe us their very best efforts in using those finances to create the game as they see fit, with the implicit promise that 'as they see fit' happens to be the best fucking ARPG in history.

But hey, no pressure or anything, guys. ^_^

I highly doubt GGG will bend over backwards because someone supported them. GGG is creating something because of an underlying passion and ideology of creating something magnificent. Unfortunately money is an obstacle. GGG respects their supporters but most likely respects the gamer that supports them without shoving it in their faces.

Most likely many of you do not understand the meaning of giving without reward.

With that said support GGG because you sincerely believe in their overall success and not because you're waiting for a pat on your backside. Than again there is no such thing as a non-selfish act... I digress.
