Aura swapping removal

it _was_ a bug before weaponswap was implemented (cast an aura, remove gem, aura remains, insert next gem, cast aura, remove gem... kinda anoying and you would have to keep the gems in your inventory), but became an exploit (some name it "feature"...) with the weaponswap (no other skill can be used in that way). i used it on my fire-totem-summon-templar, too. discipline, clarity and purity, last two linked with reduced mana, on my offhand-weapons. (the rest was: 5L-firestorm-totem, fireball +3 supports, shockwavetotem +3 supports, spectres +3 supports, zombies +2 supports, elemntal weakness + increased duration and a rejuvenation totem, and some offhand-gems to level on the way) i still use all three auras and reduced mana. my spectres and zombies dont do as much damage as before (minion damage is lost, but they are pure meatshields, so who cares), but both my spectres and my zombies profit from the quality minion life and -speed gem now (linked them together). my rejuvenation-totem (wich i seldom used at all) is now offhand if i need it. all fine. face it: it was an bug/exploit, and some people had a fun time exploiting it. this is beta, its there to find bugs/exploits an remove them (that this bug should have been fixed earlier is another thing...). if builds were so dependant from an exploit(!), and if they are not flexible enough to adapt, they were bad builds, imho. and they will get wiped anyway. so... start a new build (and u dont really have to do that, because chris already anounced another skill-reset) and enjoy finding new and better/legit solutions for the challenges an exile has to face... :) "Glattes Eis, ein Paradeis, für den, der gut zu tanzen weiß" - F. I am a 8 Aura Summoner and.....changes are great. It always felt strange and this is, how it actually should be.

With the duelist I was struggling on how to figure out how to get both damage and EHP, especially after they nerfed life regen, remember duelist's troll blood was 2% so that nerf cut my life regen by a full 1%.
With the auras I was able to get hatred, anger and vitality pretty easy to offset some of my lack of DPS and my lower life regen. While I understand the logic, I don't see it as an exploit at all. It still reserved mana and using it on my 2nd set basically saved me from getting 4l armor early on and allowed me to have like a curse. As it stands this was a big help for duelist but without stuff like this a duelist cannot stand up to a maura, swords don't compare to 2h mace and GS, don't care how fast they are. I was running a 7 aura duelist with 4 auras on my alternative 5L weapon.

I'm extremely happy this was finally fixed.
No character should have access to everything which is why we are supposed to be limited to 8 skills. Each aura counts as one of those skills. Swapping them out once activated was an exploit that desperately needed to be removed. |

Quite frankly if that is all you have to worry about bearing in mind that this is beta well either stop moaning and get on with it or bugger of and play something else. It was a bug and it has been fixed. Change your skills accordingly or start a new character. You feel robbed that they removed a bug......Dude Get a life or a job. Its only money. May as well spend it here.

Figured it was just a bug so never based any characters around it, personally against having weapon swapping of any kind.

Great change.
Removing tedious portions of the game is good game design. Just because something makes your character weaker, doesn't automatically make it a bad change for the games overall state. |

" I never even knew it was possible and if I did I wouldn't have used it for the above reason. Why should you be able to benefit from gear you are not wearing? How is that not cheating? In a very grind heavy game the death penalty equates to...more grinding.

It's a good change. It makes a lot of character weaker, it made my wand witch pretty useless (had 5 auras and 2 curses, now I would not be able to use other skills with it) but you have to be aware of such possibility in closed beta.
Some auras or aura passives may be rebalanced since characters that use a lot of auras got a big hit - not many other skills to use and a lot of slots on gear used. Still, swapping weapons for some useless ones with reduced mana and auras was pretty stupid. Now we also have more reasons to choose auras according to situation. I would just like to see a real reason to swap weapons except using bow for warden on every char. However, with negative resistances we may actually see someone having a shield with high resists and purity on weapon swap. |
