I have never use in game effects, are they one time use? I like them and don't want to waste them on crap boots.

looks like the free footprints are a opener to more microtransactions:
once the freebies realise that the footprints are as cool as a windows logo on your forehead or ronald mc donald on your co-driver's seat they will spend money on the game to get a decent footprint mt. pressing thumbs that it works. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
