A litte different build - CI Arc Trapper one shotting Kole with Lvl 67 (=
This is more or less a fun build - if you want a farming build; go Dual Spork (=
Content 1 Introduction 2 The Idea Behind the Build 3 Pros/Cons 4 Spells 5 Passives 6 Other Stuff + Early Game Hello, i am Yalani and today i am introducing my Arc-Trap-Build. First of all: I am from Germany, so my english might be a little bit.... strange ;D I simply love to try out new builds - was trying the discharge build before it was cool (= - and got a lot of Characters who are ~ level 60. My main toon is a level 75 Arc-Witch. I love this Spell, but it feels kinda week sometimes so i tried to make it work out better, and this Character is the result. -------------------------------------------------------- What is this build about? This build utilizes the mechanics behind Shock Stacking. There are 2 ways to Shock an enemy with lightning damage: 1. Perform a Critical Strike 2. Chance to Shock an enemy - Passive nodes, curses and Quality on Gems. The Shock-Status stacks up to 3 times and each Shock-Stack increases the damage taken by 40% - for a total Bonusdamage of 120%. The Problem is, that the Shock-Duration is based on your damage related to the maximum life of an enemy. So if i crit someone with my Arc-Witch, the shock stack vanishes almost instantly and i cant build up 3 Shock stacks (unless i crit 3 Times in a row) To solve this Problem, i combine Arc with Remote Mine. With Remote Mine, you can set up 5 Mines and let them detonate simultaneously. Even if they apply only a 0.5 second Shock Stack, it doesnt matter because your mines will detonate at the same time. In the best case, your first 3 mines will apply Shock Stacks and your 4th and 5th mines will do 120% bonus damage, which will oneshot almost every Mob. I started doing maps with ~Level 62 - currently i am Level 67 and got no Problems at all. Pros and Cons of this Build As already mentioned at the start, this build is more a fun build, since it takes some time to clear an area. I am most likely playing with a friend who uses an Etheral Knive Build. He is doing the most damage against groups of White mobs, but this build shines at oneshotting Yellows/Blues or even Uniques I also got no problems to clear maps solo, but it is extremely slow if you play alone. Pros -Pretty safe build, since arc has a fairly high range -One shotting most Bosses -Pretty fun to play -Pretty nice in a group of 2-3 people -You dont care about reflect mobs -You dont need Cast Speed - utilizing Cons -Slow killspeed against white mobs -Slow soloplay -Some mobs can destroy your mines -You may need some Quality Gems -Luck depending (Shock Stacks, Crits) What spells to use? Our main spell combination is Arc + Remote Mine + Added Lightning Damage + Increased Critical Damage + Lightning Penetration Why added lightning damage? Because it will give you +1% increased Shock Duration and +0.5% Chance to Shock the enemy per % of Quality. If you dont have a Quality Added-LD, you might also go with Increased Critical Strikes. Also a quality Arc is nice, since it will give you a +0.5% chance to Shock enemy per % of Quality. For AOE Damage we are using 2 Differents Spells: -Main AOE: Lightning Warp + Remote Mine + Concentrated Effect + Increased AOE -For quick kills: Shock Nova + Trap + Concentrated Effect + Increased AOE/Crit Damage/Lightning Pen The Problem with Shock Nova is the "dead-zone": it deals no damage in the smaller inner circle. This zone gets bigger/smaller if you are increasing/decreasing its AOE, so you might replace Increased AOE with Crit/Light-Pen. You may also want to switch the Lighting Warp Mines with Shocknova Mines, since it is doing more damage, or even the ShocknovaTrap with a Lighting Warp Trap, since it also deals damage to the initial target. I personally prefer the above combination. Against PPL, who can destroy your Mines i am going with a Simple Arc + Faster Casting + Crit Damage + Whatever Our Main Curse is - of course - Conductivity, because it reduces the enemies L-Resistance and also grants an additional chance to Shock an enemy. For Auras, i am using Discipline + Clarity, and if you can handle the Manacost you might also go with Purity Utility: -Frost Wall + Increased Duration; Since Arc is no Projectile Spell, it also can damage enemies behind the wall. -Detonate Dead; Screw you Necromancer :< -Lighting Warp; Escape/Jumping over cliffs Passive Skills 20 Points - Damage and Energy Shield 41 Points - More Energy Shield, Preparing for CI, MANA 51 Points - Damage + 15 Mine Laying Speed 64 Points - Static Blows! 71 Points - More Mine Laying Speed Now its up to you - maybe you need more mana (skill Mana Geyser between the Shadow and Ranger Areas), or more survivability (Get Body and Soul/The 20% Allresist near the Phalanx Node) or More Damage (Go to the Templar Area/finish The Witch Area/Skill Mean Streak and Throatseeker) You also need CI... i usually get it ~Act 2 Merciless Some Additions -If you place all Mines at the same place, they will attack the same target; if you want to hit multiple Targets, place a Mine, Move a step and place another mine -If there are only 2 Targets, Arc can hit the Initial Target twice since it chains 2 times -You want to Stack as much Chance to Shock as possible; get Quality Gems and Critchance -Get for free 50% Spell Damage - Mines doesnt benefit from castspeed -Play with a friend with high AOE damage (= -In the earlier stage of the game, you simply use Etheral Knives since remote mines takes to long to kill enemies and EK is twoshotting everything in Normal/early Cruel Last edited by Yalani#3031 on Jul 10, 2013, 11:39:25 AM

Hi, Yalani.
Really like the idea, and thanks for bring a really cool build to the forums. Some questions: Doedre's Tenure, is really needed? Like u said, you need crits. Maybe an Maligaros would be better? Don't know, just asking. I've see that you didn't grab much spell nodes, in fact u got only five of them. So, for this build spell nodes aren't really necessary? If not, i'd like to make a bit different, maybe go for EB for aura stacking + perma artic armour and MAYBE IR too. Looks like Arc now is considered an projectile, so linked to gmp + chain the target can be hit 3 times by the same arc looks like. That would solve the problem killing white mobs. Best of luck, and thanks! Last edited by Nawul#4062 on Jul 11, 2013, 8:38:11 AM

Hello,
" Well, i didnt have Maligaros, so i cant test it. But 50% Spell damage for free is huge. Also, you can grab Doedres for like a half Chaos orb or something. Maligaros is much more expensive :P " I grabbed 35% Elemental Damage, 38% Spell damage and 74% Lightning Damage from the passive tree after 71 Points. Since i really need Static blows and the 2 Mine laying speed nodes, i cant really get more spell damage at this point. After static blows you still have some points left for more spell damage. Not sure if you really need Arctic armor, since the build itself is quite safe to play. " GMP doesnt work with arc. Chain does, but they have to be 2 targets to hit 1 target more than 1 time. Against 2 yellow mobs chain would deal alot more damage, but white mobs are usually dying after the first or second mine. Last edited by Yalani#3031 on Jul 11, 2013, 8:54:17 AM

Hi Yalani! Just reading your build! I'm glad there are people trying to give trap-builds in POE a new pov!
Can i ask you why going CI? there is an huge improvement turning CI? Edit: what i mean is: with no life you'll get stun on every hit, status ailments will have a huge duration, you need overpowered ES gears to have a lot of ES and lacking armor..is it convenient? Also u can't life leech..not a best option for a ci.. Last edited by Effe86#2062 on Jul 11, 2013, 3:37:29 PM

Hi,
the reason why i go CI is pretty simple: almost all my other chars are CI aswell... So i already got some ES-equipment :3 And as already mentioned: Arc has a pretty high range, so this build is actually quite safe. Last edited by Yalani#3031 on Jul 11, 2013, 4:14:21 PM
