Is Minion Instability working as intended?

SOmething ive noticed is that if my skeles get one shotted right after summon they dont explode. Is this intended or being addressed in the 9.12 minion patch?

I believe this is working as intended. How leveled are your skellies? Honestly, I felt like mine were a bit too tanky for my liking at gem level 15, and in a future build will probably stop leveling the gem before that.
Current IGNs:
Smoothjazzz - 61 Summoner Templar (Default)
PostHardcore - 52 2H Marauder (Hardcore) (RIP)
PointBlaurader - 68 Bowrauder (Hardcore)

That's intended. Minion instability makes them explode if they're reduced to low life (<35%), not if they're killed. If they die in one hit without first going to low life, they're already dead before they'd have a chance to explode.

You should probably change the description then. Text saying "Even in death, they have their uses." implies that on death the minion explodes. It would be nice if the skill gave the percentage that the summon must be reduced to for the explosion to occur. currently I feel like I wasted 13 levels rushing a skill that dose nothing because my skeletons and zombies have such low hp that they go from 50% to 0% in one hit.

You could just have the skill make all minions start with 35% of their health missing and then have them explode on death. That might make for a more reliable skill especially early on when even the tanky zombies go down in 2-3 hits and having them explode is a roll of the dice.

I think the "even in death" part refers to the fact that they're dying as a result of being blown up. Plus the minions are all undead at the moment anyway. I hope we get golems soon!
IRON MAN
Most every one I know who hasn't played the game thinks that this skill causes your minions to explode upon death. I just don't understand why the skill doesn't work that way.

It seems if your summons are getting one-shoted then you could probably use the help of having them explode for a small amount of damage.
Well.. i am a lvl 43 pure necro witch..in my opion... minions are way too powerful. They one shot everything for me and i can summon at least 20+ or even 30 minions at max. I strongly disagree about minions having low lifes. After u put in the correct support gem and passive skill, my hp is not even 1/3 of my zombies hp.

I don't know what you're doing, but my 44 Summoner Templar doesn't have minions that "one shot" everything. They also die extremely fast even with almost all the minion passives and the minion life support gems on all of them.

Anyway, people need to stop reading what they want to see and read what the passive actually says. It's very clear and states that when minions are on "low life" they explode. It doesn't say "when they die".
