Hey guys! started playing PoE a few days ago, and I decided for a Duelist, trying to go for a dual wielding build.
What I wanted to know is the best way to go through this build, mixing high damage with atk speed.
But the doubt is: sword/mace/axe?
Swords seem to have lower damage than axes/maces. But some skills, like cleave, does not work with maces.
Oh, and by the way, good weapons came from drops? Or you gotta create them with orbs etc?

Duelists don't play with maces, ever ;)


It really comes down to swords or axes, i personally prefer swords, the higher attack speed fits the concept and also the skill tree of the duelist much better, since you have easy acces to things like critical strike passives which obviously profit from more attack speed.

Still I've also seen some duelists using axes pretty successfully so in the end it comes down to your personal preference.


If you get good weapons from drops... yeah that depends really on luck, I personally get pretty lucky with drops, never had to build a weapon, just rerolled some stats, but also got some friends who usually end up getting nothing and just building weapons themselfes.
