Change "X Arrow" skill gems to "X Shot" to allow use with wands

Personally, I fully agree we need some more wand-usable attacks in the game. I don't agree that porting all the arrows skills to wands is a good way to achieve that.

Poison arrow, for example, doesn't makes sense as a wand skill, because it's about firing a arrow into an area with something attached to it that releases clouds of poison. It wouldn't make sense to be able to attach something to the energy projectile of a wand the same way.

Thanks for the reply :)

I figured it'd be like flinging a blob of poison "energy" instead of the usual wand projectile which then has an end result similar to Poison Arrow.

Anyway, as long as it's something you guys are aware of, I'm sure you'll come up with something cool for us when you're ready, just make sure there's some AoE in there please! :)
Burning arrow, Lightning arrow, and Explosive arrow all fit wands pretty well.
Puncture (with bows), Rain of arrows, and Split arrow should definitely stay bow exclusive.
I just understand your pain and will add some Wand-Skills to our create Skill-Gem-Thread in the Suggestion-Forum. Just have to think a little bit about some.

I actually see a lack of arcane-damage, since wands do physical-damage, I will stick to it.

But some ideas about wand-skills:

Lightning Beam
-Wand Attack, if DW the wands are used after each other
-Will fire a beam towards your target, hits everything in your way
-Converts the damage (all?) of your wands to lightning damage

Arcane Barrage
-Wand Attack, if DW the wands are used after each other
-The Wand fires an arcane projectile towards your target
-On Impact the projectile explodes dealing half the damage to nearby enemies

Well, there could be more :P
If there where new skill gems for wands, i d prefer them to differ from the effects, skill gems for bows have, at least visually.

To give a little example: The effect, you have with posion arrow on bows could be translated to a wand-based skill gem as follow:
Spoiler

Creeping shadows:

This skill shoots a beam/ ray of dark energy in a straight line from the wand of the caster to the target. The beam ends at the first obstacle hit. Over the next 5 seconds this beam gets more and more diffuse andthe dark energy spreads out into a fog.

Effects: If anything gets hit by the beam, it gets some damage. Afterwards, every opponent crossing the beam/fog is influenced by another effect (like a posion or a fear effect, or such).

That example would be similar to the skill posion arrow. You have a target, that gets initial damage. You have a could, that influenced all opponents within.
The visual would be total different, cause instead of an arrow you have a ray, something more fitting to a wand.
The usage, however, would be different. While at posion arrow you want to hit someone in the biggest bulk of opponents, so as many as possible get affected by the posion cloud, but you don t care, if that bulk is close to you, or far away, Creeping shadow has the greatest effect, if you aim at someone at maximum skill range, since the cloud emmits out of a beam and a longer beam means a greater cloud emmiting. The cloud of the posion arrow has a circular shape, creeping shadow would be more of a tube.

I understand, that many bow abilities don t fit to wands. But I don t think, one should totally neglect the bow abilities while designing wand abilities. If you change some details, most of the bow abilities could translate into wands without having the feeling, wands and bows play the same.

Well Split Arrow could be made into Split-Shot easily and this makes sense. Frenzy should already work with Wands. Explosive Arrow modifies the hit target so could be refined for Wand-usage too.

But Fire, Poison and Lightning Arrow should look a bit more Spell-like if used with Wands so a new spell should be used for them.
I never noticed a poison package on my PAs... they look like green energy bolts that explode into poison when they hit a target. Not sure how a wand needs to be any different. New skills are always groovy, though.
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.
