Cruel Hillock/Ledge Farming Only Melee Build
Highlights
Pros: -Inexpensive -Good farming build for new players -Quick/easy to start -300% rarity/100% quantity possible at level 35. -DEM LOOTZ! Cons: -Suiciding character to stay at level can be tedious -No 6L'ed gear possible -Repetitive/boring but hey ...
Introduction
This is a build I started to take advantage of most of the magic find uniques that are available in the game and to see how it compared to the popular Dual Spork Totem Low Life farming build.
From playing the Dual Spork build I was able to drop a lot of these uniques that are incorporated into the build, but to buy most of them (excluding the Andvarius rings) will be relatively inexpensive. An initial investment of way less than 1 exalted should get you up and running. All it takes is one good drop to recoup your initial costs! Conveniently all the uniques can start being used at the very level in which you'll be focusing on. You can also find and start using a 5L chest at this point which will allow you to use the rarity/quantity support gems. So the idea is to stack as much IIR/IIQ as possible and to be able to clear Cruel Ledge/Hillock as quickly as possible. This build handles both of those easily. ![]() The IIR/IIQ is similar to what I run on my level 79 farming build but I have about 50% more rarity because I don't have to worry about resists and can stack Andvarius rings. ![]() The only interesting stat on here is at the very bottom. 43% increased movement speed along with 3 Quicksilver flasks means extremely fast clear speeds of the linear Ledge area. The faster you can clear, the more loot/currency you get. Simple. Hillock runs average about 30-35 seconds and I don't think I've seen him drop 1 white item yet. Now the downsides of this build is that any chest armor or 2H weapon you find will never be able to be 6L'ed. You will able to 5L any armors/2H weapons though. Another is the suicides you'll have to do to keep the character at level 35 can be tedious but it's a small price to pay.
Leveling
I leveled with the popular elemental cleave build. If you have a group you play with who can carry/rush you, you can start farming within 1-2 hours. Optionally you can pay someone to rush/carry you as well. Just ask in chat and you'll find someone quickly. Just get to level 35 as fast as you can. Not much else to say.
Passives
Here is your tree at level 35.
I don't plan to level past 35 so I don't incur any currency penalties when farming Hillock. You can level to 37 to focus on Ledge if you like but will incur a 2.5% penalty on currency if you farm Hillock. Up to you what you want to focus on.
Gear
You can substitute whatever MF gear you have but as you don't have to worry about resists or even dying (except for the suicides) just stack as much quantity/rarity as you can. You can also use whatever skills you want and are comfortable with.
Conclusion
Fast, simple, cheap farming build. Does get pretty monotonous pretty fast but that's true of most any farming build. If you see any flaws in the build or any areas which can be improved, please leave a comment so I can update the build to help out newer players.
Enjoy. |

Just discovered the usefulness of Righteous Fire for helping with the suicides.
Cast and run into a mob and you'll die quite fast. Going to do about an hour of Ledge runs to get a sample size of the kind of drops that you can get with the build ..... |

"All your questions are answered within the build notes. There is indeed a drop rate penalty although a lot of people will find it very minor. I'm of the 'every little bit helps' camp though ... especially when it comes to new players. That's the great thing about this game. It gives the person playing a lot of flexibility and choices in what they want to do. You see it as a waste of time, others might find it worth theirs. In the end, it's something I'm going to keep playing (along with my 79 spork totem build) as it holds its own ... here's my overall haul from about 2 hours of farming before the patch. (Note: Most of the Chaos/Alchs came from selling off some items/uniques that dropped. In total I had 5 uniques drop in the two hours. I was also constantly switching quantity/rarity rings to see if I could find the best 'balance' between percentages. It's all random for the most part.) Good luck to everyone. |

If you want more speed get +increased speed on your quicksilvers. Easy and cheap to craft.

" Sry to be a nitpicker, but this is wrong :) Technically you can get 6link gear for lvl35, it is just very unlikely (unless it is a Unique). (not 6L, but only because I dont want to spend Fuses because the baseitem is suboptimal) regards Hold on to yer shite load o´ bloody barnacles on me arse-cockles, me hearty!

its not possible,
if you hold the item on your cursor and type /itemlevel you will see the item was dropped by a much higher level. level usable and item level are two very different things. |

" It is indeed possible to have a 6L level 35 requirement. Because of exactly what you said in your post. Difficult? Probably harder than a normal rare 6L because of the fact that the item level would have to be 53+ which means that it would have a higher mod pool than level 35 however it's do-able. Easier to do it with a unique since ofc there levels don't matter. Only the item level matters. IGN: aMonsterTruck Because I'm Based. Last edited by bbblame#3614 on Jun 29, 2013, 4:22:51 PM

My point was any gear you get from this build will not be able to be 6L'ed as the highest item level you'll receive from drops is 37. (If you keep the build at level 35 of course)
You'll need at least an ilvl of 50+ to 6L. But yes you can start using 6L gear from level 1 if you find a base item above 50 and are willing to invest the currency in it, just not from here. |
