Performance Drop in Ship Graveyard

I have a pretty damn good gaming rig (~$2000AU) and it runs every game perfectly. PoE is no exception.

Except.

When I hit ship graveyard. There is something in the level that makes my FPS drop from 60 to 30 at irregular intervals. The graph shows it spiking down to 30 and back up to 60 at intermediate times as I move about the level.

Specs (copied from my umart purchase ticket, I'm not at home right now):

Windows 7 64bit

Gigabyte GF GTX 670 OC EDITION PCI-E 3.0 2GB 256-bit DDR5

Intel Core i5 3570K LGA1155 CPU 3.4Ghz 6Mb Cache Ivy Bridge

8gb RAM

2x 120gb SSD hardrives running in RAID.

Certain it isn't my specs, and my drivers are up to date.

Could just be that particular isn't well optimised?

Running the game with v-synch off helps, as the game runs at 100-160 fps, and I don't notice the fps drop. But I'd rather not, as it is needless power wastage.

That's quite a strange issue, does this only ever occur in the Ship Graveyard area and nowhere else? Also, does this occur no matter what you are doing, e.g. running around in circles, standing still, attacking monsters?
No where else, only ship graveyard.

I just went back there then, to try and isolate the issue, and it only seems to happen when I am near a particular area, I think it may be the smoke/mist.

Screencap of fps and frametime.

Usually at even 60.

Just went to Fetid pool to try and confirm the smoke theory, and my fps/frametime does drop, but no where near the level that Graveyard does. I wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't looking at the graph.

That fog could be the cause, do you have any application specific settings for Path of Exile enabled in the Nvidia control panel/Catalyst control center?

Not that I know of. It's all max settings, and PoE is applies to the default settings.

One last bump before I play with v-synch off

Hey there,

What settings do you have enabled/disabled in your nvidia control panel?

Yes

Screencapped settings.

Poe doesn't have an individual profile, which I thought it did.

Hey there,

Can you please set the following:
Anisotropic filtering: application controlled
Antialiasing - FXAA: application controlled
Antialiasing - Gamme Correction: application controlled
Antialiasing - Transparency: application controlled
Texture filtering - Quality: Performance
Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization: off
Triple Buffering: disabled

Give that a try and report back with the results of testing please.
