Pyramid boss - Unexpected exception after engaging combat

The game consistently crashes on engaging the Pyramid boss.

After he fires the orbs in a circle to summon his adds, the game crashes, throwing me back to the login screen.
sorry to hear that, bad spot to crash.

Reboot and retry.

On your side, had you done anything? Sometimes happens with a combination of attacks / spells.

What was the exact error?

It doesn't give me an exact error. It just throws me back to the login screen with a meaningless "Unexpected exception" message. I can't find any logfiles with details.

I didn't do anything special either. Just attacked it with fire arrow + added cold damage sg. (I'm a ranger)
The same happens on poison arrow + multi proj + added cold anyway.

And this was already a "reboot and retry" case, since it happened yesterday too at what seems to be the exact same time.
Odd. When it happened yesterday, did you get past it?

Mind trying this...

RightClick the game Icon, select Properties, add the --nosound to the TARGET.

Example:
"

"E:\Program Files\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile\Client.exe" --nosound

Its the fix used on CREATIVE sound / Cams, but maybe its a Sound file issue.

Nah, cant get past it.

I might try the nosound thing, but I'm using onboard sound anyway. It's a bit tedious to run the 4 floors just to try again but I may give it another shot before the open beta runs out.
Yep...very bad spot to crash and it takes so long that there is almost time enough for the E_outofmemory issue to be the culprit.

The --nosound is just in case its a Sound issue / or to elevate some memory usage.

The --nosound actually did the trick, thanks :)

This could be a corrupted pack file as well, you should try running the Pack Check from the top of this forum and see if it solves your problem.
Balance & Design
I would, but the open weekend is over :P

Edit: the check itself didn't report any corrupt files anyway.
