FIXED
I am unable to update the client since the new version came out. The patcher gets an error: Unrecognised HTTP Content or Transfer-Encoding while downloading http://patch12.pathofexile.com:8095/patch/0.9.11.4/ShaderCache.dat
Ive re-downloaded the client as well and I get the same error with the update, but a different file is corrupt. Ive also run the PackCheck and it says the corrupted file has been repaired, but when I run the patcher I get the same error again on the same corrupted file. Please help Last edited by DieSkim#5167 on Jul 27, 2012, 12:08:03 PM

Rename the Content.ggpk file, then re-download it.

Thats odd. Right after I made the previous post, I also did the same thing, but no error with mine...it took almost 35minutes to download though.
Make sure that your Firewall is not blocking any content / Antivirus is disable / not scanning while downloading. Are you Wifi? OS: WinXP SP2 32bit

It sounds like you're connecting through a broken proxy/cache.
Unfortunately there isn't really an easy way to fix this - you either need to get whoever runs the proxy (presumably your ISP) to clear the cache, or find some way to get around the proxy like running the patcher on a different connection or through a VPN. The problem should fix itself whenever the cache expires, but it's anyones guess when that will happen - it *might* also fix itself when we deploy a new patch, but that depends on how the cache is set up. Alternatively if any of your friends also play and have patched successfully, you could copy their install dir (or in most cases just the Content.ggpk file). Sorry I can't currently offer a better solution. We are looking into potential ways to make the patcher get around broken proxies, but we don't have an ETA for this yet. | |
It's just weird, because 3 days before the c patch was released I updated to 0.9.11 and 0.9.11b on the same connection without any problems. But on the weekends I'm at a different house with different internet connection, so I will try downloading it again and see if it's fixed.
Otherwise I'll just copy it from a friend. Thanks |

Also have this, and can't change to another ISP. So guess i'm screwed :(. I've never ever had this for any other game before, so surely there must be something the company can do? I mean really...i've never even heard of telling my ISP to "clear their cache" ..huh?

Well I usually just phone my ISP tech support and ask them to do it...
