Weapon Switch?

Gonna be in?

Some people are upset that they're taking it out of D3. I can see why, it's fun busting out a weapon with a special ability like prevent monster heal. In Titan Quest I'd equip a bow on my melee character to pull aggro every now and again.

Obviously with PoE it could get really interesting as every weapon switch may allow you to switch between skills/add support runes to skills. On the one hand that sounds pretty sweet, on the other maybe it makes things too complicated?

I would like to know this also, mainly due to the types of monsters we will be facing with different weaknesses. I might use a two handed sword as my main weapon, but come across a large group of skeletons, or even a hard boss skeleton and need to use a maul I have to defeat them easier. Going into your inventory in the middle of battle to change weapon is never fun and could get you killed.

Also it would make for some interesting gameplay, where you could have a set of weapons with long-ranged skills for fighting from afar, then quickly switch to a close-ranged weapon and skill set once your enemy is upon you.
I like the idea of being able to switch between not only weapons, but skill sets. This could make for some realy strategic combinations, and let players shine through using their wits, rather than just level.

and on the other hand, switching skills may be overpowered?

perhaps a weapon switch with a cooldown oslt so that one cant spam 6 different skills at mobs and just watch drop loot.
lazy people are always eager to do something...
True, some kind of cooldown on skills when switching weapons would prevent spamming a large number of skills in the midst of battle to burn down enemies before they get a chance to look at you, but your going to be restricted by your mana pool anyway, not sure how much.
I, personally, felt the weapon switch was only necessary in D2 for stat bonuses letting you equip said item. This led to lots of bugs and glitches. An example would be aura stacking.
Don't add this system unless you feel it can be implemented successfully, without error. This kind of thing is unnecessary, yet convenient.
I feel that weapon switch allows you to too easily be capable of doing anything in any situation.

I like the idea of switching weapons, mainly because it can add to the variety of skills you can use (as you know some skills require a sword, some others a mace or an axe...).
After using the same two or three attack skills over and over I feel quite bored.

How do mean exactly? The passive tree still defines what you are good at. At most you are swapping 1/3 of your skill gems and probably switching 1h/shield for 2h weapon of the same weapon class.
Wouldn't mind it as long as there is penalties like a casting time, pressing one button and instantly going from 2hander to a 1hand + shield is bad, but say a 3-4 second animation of sheathing your 2hander and pulling out the 1hander + shield or bow would be fine, these items would have to be pre-loaded into slots not just sitting in your inventory.

As far as skill switching, oh god no, would defeat any purpose of even having to pick skills in the first place, might as well just give you all of them at all times if you're gonna do that anyways.
