Not sure whether to get GW2 or not looks good but have not played many MMO's

only reason i am giving GW2 a second look is the three faction system for the open world "rvr style" pvp.

DAOC nostalgia kicks in.

It looks quite interesting and I'll probably give it a go. I like the "no mandatory grind" thing they got going. I got more than my fair share of that while playing Lineage 2 :)

i played the first one as well , quite a lot , enjoyed it a lot ....
regarding your concerns , i wouldn't worry that much i followed the Arena Net guys since the first appearence of the first logo of GW 2 was out , since the announcement in '07 and i can asure you that the game will be the best possible iteration of GW and probably the next mmo king for a couple of years , definitely my choice for a game alongside Path of Exile and PlanetSide 2 this year , my top three of 2012 :)

I played the original GW in early beta and played it for quite some time after release as well as the expansions though I didnt care for them as much. I really, really enjoyed GW in it's early stages.

GW2 beta on the other hand.. I'm not nearly as much of a fan and I really do not like how it's succumbed to the MMO scene. I checked out the gem store.. and they have Aviator sunglasses for your characters. Really? I love me some Aviators irl, in fact my favorite pair of sunglasses are Ray-Ban aviators, but I DO NOT want to see that shit in a game like GW.

I played the final Guild Wars 2 beta weekend event and was hooked.
Purchased the next day and haven't looked back.

Like any rpg based game, it's highly addictive. Completely different mechanics than Guild Wars 1, but I enjoy it. The skill animations, sound effects and art work is so varied. It's actually fun just roaming around and discovering new areas. PoE will likely be all set to go by the time I've had my fill of GW2.

I chose The Secret World over GW2 for my new "MMO" experience. Wasn't much of a GW1's fan though, even though I know GW2 is much different.
