I don't want to lose the ability to trade
|
Why do I feel like GGG is moving into abusive tactics now?
Because they are taking away a feature players previously paid money for, in order to access the new paid feature. This is the same line Destiny 2 crossed when they started removing content players had paid for. I have 1 trade tab, like I imagine many people do. I bought it to support the game and engage with the community. I was very excited for my items to sell offline as well, it brought me back for this season. Now I understand how wrong I was. If I want to use the new trade feature, I have to permanently give up my only trade tab, with no way to ever get it back. I will lose my ability to trade with other players in order to use a new feature that sells items without any player engagement. I will be losing a feature of the game I paid for, and will have to pay more to get it back. This is 1 step short of removing the paid feature with no option to get it back, and to people who can't afford to buy additional tabs right now, it's effectively the same. Give up what you paid for, or give up on using the new feature. Please make the choice per item, not the whole tab. Let me choose individual items in my current trade tab and set them to sell through the merchant. Same rules, same system, just don't take away a paid feature to do it. Question: Why do you want both in-person and asynch trade? They both functionally fulfill the same purpose, one just doesn't require you to stop whatever it is you're doing in order to make the trade.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |

Well first off is player engagement. Even if people don't negotiate the price, there's still an interaction with a human being, not a system.
Also there's the gold cost, it's nothing to endgame but to casual players it's preferable to speak to a human being than pay extra to deal with a computer. There are advantages to both systems, and I'd prefer to have the choice between them |

" Ok, you are saying you're going to lose your ability to trade because you have to dedicate a 3$ stash tab? Come on man. It's really not that deep IMO. ★ Forum Threads ★

So much to argue with here, just going to go straight into a list format:
1. GGG did not take away anything. They have left both trade options fully functional. 2. Having 1 tab is ridiculous limitation to put on yourself. I understand people who are unable/unwilling to put any amount of real money into the game, and I understand people who buy whatever they need for the game. But this in the middle choice of, "I will spend 6 dollars, but not 8 dollars, thats too much" is absurd. 2.1: Pay the $1.50 on whatever it cost to upgrade a normal stash tab to a premium, then convert your purchased premium into a merchant tab. 2.1.1: And before you go on some rant about how not everyone is privileged to just buy tabs, let me go ahead and say thats a BS argument, just being here means you are in a relative place of privilege. a) You are playing a PC game, you are already in the privileged category. Gaming is not in Maslow's Hierarchy b) Presumably you are playing on a gaming PC purchased sometime within the last 10 years, and paying for internet that can support an online game, and have the free time in your life to use to play the game. Again, you are already in the privileged category. 3. This backlash at GGG for charging for new things is even more absurd. You want to play a free game, for decades, with new content every 3 months. And then you also want to complain when the content is late, when your favorite build is nerfed, when features are missing, etc. These people do this for a living. GGG is a company. Yes, the game is F2P, but the company does have to continue to exist. The fact that they manage to keep it F2P as it has evolved over the years is a miracle, and people still complain about the system that enables that to begin with. Mind blowing, really. /end rant “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.” Last edited by Piousqd#0073 on Nov 4, 2025, 6:49:17 PM

I do see where OP is coming from. If everyone moves to using the instant trade market, it means, in effect, the in-person trade is not used, even if the functionality is there. From what I'm seeing, a large amount of trading has gone onto the market.
I have actually missed some of the player to player interaction a bit. Overall though, I think the implementation of the trade market has been very positive, which is why I think it is being heavily used. I think they probably should of just given a single merc tab to players who had bought the premium trade tabs previously, just to avoid any aggravation and the mess of swapping tabs. I also see where the others are coming from, POE has be unrivaled in content value for payment than any other game I know of in my opinion. Players need to keep that in mind when GGG are monetising things, particularly when a lot of the game development has been through big supporters. " +1 not being an elitist or anything, its pretty common for me to setup 1-2 dedicated tabs just for trade. it is a p2w feature that i think should just be swallowed by the player. ggg needs to earn some cash. buy once and reap the benefits forever. just support the devs and buy a stash or ten. as far as p2w goes, stashes can be more of a "pay to play" feature as the benefit is permanent. " This is what I was trying to say, but I admit I was upset so I stated the problem but didn't give constructive feedback on a solution. I know they want to charge for a new feature, but the implementation made it so people with lots of tabs already benefit immediately, and those are the ones who would be most likely to pay more for the new feature. The people with limited tabs are the ones who feel it the most, are are less likely to want to pay again for a feature that's being somewhat degraded by the new system. I miss the trading already. It was part of what made me want to play in the early season when it was the most exciting to snipe a great item, or haggle for a price when I'm 5 chaos short of affording it. Most of the traffic definitely went to the merchant tabs already. Part of me says to just give in, convert my only tab, and not have any player interaction at all. To me that just feels so wrong somehow in a multiplayer game. I'd be fine with only 1 tab, or even just part of my current tab, but this all or nothing approach left people like me |

Oh yes, I miss the tons of price fixers I had to contend with, whispering people multiple times to trade because they didn't see it the first time, "brb, in lab", "sorry, already sold", loading screens - the farther away the player the longer, 200 ms in someone's hideout, having to run the game in the background while doing something else so I won't miss a trade, not being fast enough to respond because I am in the middle of a league mechanic so the trade doesn't go through
I can probably fill several pages with these beautiful things I miss Last edited by Johny_Snow#4778 on Nov 5, 2025, 11:01:16 AM
