Essence Corruption on Controller Not Working

Unable to corrupt Essences using a controller (Vaal Orb in Inventory).
It has always worked for me in the past, my guess is the recent change broke it.

Says "Triangle: Use Remnant of Corruption"
Pres Triangle, only my Triangle Attack happens

This is the first time I have tried it so the next Essence I encounter I will try again and report back.
