Older league mechanics that probably can be culled/reworked

POE has a huge content bloat. its strength is also its weakness.

i think GGG should really look into more reworks like keepers or just outright remove some older league content.

a good example is warbands, where they are now map bosses, not entirely removed from the game. its perfect.

other stuff:

wild exiles - merceneries does it better. perhaps wild exiles can be incorperated as a merc in the future?

expedition - settlers does it better. also i m tired of planning bomb routes. using 1 big bomb can be suicide when the mobs gain immunity to damage that i do.

ambush - i will admit its fun and NOT tedious. but if we're culling old mechanics, ambush is just a loot box. theres many other mechanics i'd rather see while mapping.

delve - i dont delve. period. but i use delve in atlas to gain buffs. perhaps let niko sell us stuff for sulphite. coz seriously i m NEVER touching delve. i dont like delving.

beyond - i like the idea of beyond but having to kill monsters in clumps for a chance of beyond monsters appearing feels too much RNG-y. if you juice up a map, beyond becomes extra juice. but if you dont, sometimes it feels less impactful.

harvest - harvest went from being a BIS factory to becoming a tailor, helping to fix resists. also a gambling den for the ultra rich. make players want to use life force rather than selling em to players.

vaal side areas - no i dont want to load into another map while mapping. perhaps incorperate vaal side areas into vaal temple? i dont know. whatever it is, i hate loading screens.

tormented spirits - just make them spawn into mobs directly. and make stuff that allow players to get touch work similar with headhunter where you kill a possessed mob, you get possessed as a reward. also bosses being possessed should be an OPT in. not RNG based. i remember back in the day when i was building my own map pool sometimes i could barely clear a rare corrupted red map. it becomes worse when the boss is possessed so the map is wrekt. tho people on global tend to be happy to help.

shrines - even with poe2's version of shrines, it just feels meh. what people like about shrines is the buff. thats all. and if im being honest, shrines in diablo are better. no BS. you click, you get a buff. end of story. also, this is how i m playing with delve. i just click on sulphite for buff and move on. its free. why does shrines need to come with a mob pack. i rather not have shrines exist if it just makes the mapping experience harder. also wtf is up with the divine shrines. people have complained about it "forever". as a flicker user it can lead me to dying one of 2 ways. one is i cant leech nor kill anything so i m flicking in to a death trap. or 2 my sustain is good enough that i flick non stop. i cant kill the mobs, nor they can hit me BUT since im repeatedly splashing damage everywhere, my pc start to lag as poe is doing a buttload of calculations for some reason. the lag gets worse then sometimes poe crashes.

blight - we can see people complaining about defending an npc being difficult for melee. lmao why does no one complain about blight? its similar. settlers also has this problem with the tree defence.

also blight has some easy metas where players just spam towers that slow/stop the enemies. it can cause massive lags. the game becomes "p2w" as you need to buy a better pc to engage with blight.

sanctum - its good as is for people who enjoy them. but for everyone else, getting a book is like picking up 5c or whatever the equivalent is these days.

also the challenge gauntlets in sanctum needs to give players more counter play. the best way to play sanctum is to outdps everything. the traps/obstacles in gauntlet rooms only become dangerous because you're busy fighting shit.

which is the reality for most of the playerbase. give me one obstacle and i will do my best to interact/avoid it. give me 2 at once? i m fucked. i can only solve this by outdpsing everything. its how i solve multi boss encounters too.

harbingers - honestly the only reason why they exist is because of their currency reward. just get rid of harbinger and let their loot go some other place.

syndicate - it can be really fun if u set out to specialize in it. otherwise it feels like a waste of time.

other suggestions:
special points of interest should be highlighted on the map. for example when interacting with legion, just show us where the mobs with rewards or generals are on the minimap directly. else all you're doing is forcing players into a zoom zoom playstyle.

note: i am not bringing up any content that can be removed from the atlas because if they can be blocked/removed, ggg has given us a sufficient tool to deal with them.

closing. poe is the king of content. end game content specifically. but theres tons of content that players dont like/dont want. let us remove what we dont like or make them good enough that players want to engage with em.
