is poison dead or something
looking at new ring and it looks pretty neat - 50% more dps. i know poison has dot cap, but 36mil is decent and you can invest rest of the skill points and stats into survivability. however looking at poeninja nobody uses the ring. any ideas why? Last bumped on Aug 1, 2025, 1:24:26 AM

Poison is a DOT and in general DOT builds are way less popular than hit builds. POE endgame has extreme monster damage with zero visual clarity, so if a monster is alive for 2 seconds instead of 0.2 seconds, that is an eternity for the monster to rearrange your face into the ground.

" Pretty much this. There's a big difference between 30m DoT DPS and 30m hit DPS. The latter applies and lets you kill things instantly, while DoT takes a few seconds to build up. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! Also, from an SSF standpoint, as with a lot of relatively "cool" items, they drop from end game content.
So if your build is capable of engaging with end game content and beating it to get the item, then logically you don't actually need the item for your build. As an SSF player (and I'm aware the game is not catering to me by design) this is one of my major gripes with the game's Trade focus for item attainment. By the time I can get the item, I no longer need it. |

Just so you know, one of the best skills in the game, so good even racers are using it, is a poison one
