XP loss on death is bad design

Loosing 10% of xp on death, in a game without death recap, with often entirely random oneshots and a screen more cluttered than the average asmongolds room, is exactly one thing:

Frustrating

This penalty serves exactly zero purpose, it doesnt improve anything about the game, it in facts frustrates people away from the game

I can tell you, after reaching level 100, death remains exactly as annoying and as undesirable as before, you still do not want to die. The only thing the penalty does is add additional frustration and causes people to quit.

So either remove this stupid and outdated mechanic, or tone it way down, maybe by preventing xp gain in the current map after dying, but yanking away about 1 hour xp is not the way.

The death penalty serves as an incentive for you to figure out why you are dying and then to problem-solve to not die as much. There are also ways to optimize this concept further if you are that bothered by the death penalty, below are some suggestions. After all, the easiest way to not care about XP penalty, is not having to worry about the XP penalty at all.

- Prioritize leveling to 100 as your main goal, treating this as a primary focus factor of your journey throughout the league will passively make you more responsive to things that take you out. Once this is done, you go back to whatever your other goals are for the league. If you are a standard player, then you just go back to doing standard-like things, whatever that is for you.

- Simple atlas tree strategies such as harbinger, abyss, domination, ritual, can add a ton of extra mobs into your maps (even without interacting with the ritual itself). There are nodes for abyss to increase the mob xp. I have utilized this strategy in quite a few leagues to get to 100. An added benefit of using ritual is that you should find some omens along the way which reduce your XP loss upon death.

- Familiarize yourself with the term "Experience" on the wiki as per below to give you more insight on how you can taper a grinding strat that suits your budget and time according.

- If you have the budget, skip the above and buy some 5 way carries or breach-stones whatever your preference may be, you can also do these yourself in a ROTA. Often times the cost of going from 92-100 in my experience, is then off-set by the currency gains I make from being able to map/do other tasks with the extra points & the time having been saved by just getting whichever character to level 100.

With the recent change of removing death penalty XP from pinnacle boss content, I don't forsee them making any further changes to this system. Not in the immediate or near future anyway.
