Delete Synthesis Implicits from the game (Or full rework)

I’m wrapping up the Mercenary League, and overall, it’s been an exciting experience, despite some drawbacks, such as server instability in the first few weeks, convoluted new NPC maps, and a lackluster story involving Zana. The only task left is potentially mirroring some three-synthesis items, but I have little interest in doing so. Relying on mirror shops feels uninspired and unsatisfying.

1. Synthesised crafting requires creating a beast imprint of an item and then using Harvest to roll synthesised implicits. This process is unnecessarily complex and cumbersome. The odds of rolling three random implicits are roughly 1 in 16, costing approximately 100–150 divines just to achieve this step.

2. After successfully rolling three implicits, you need a special beast that cannot be found in maps. Acquiring it demands tedious, specific farming or a massive amount of currency. Constantly creating imprints for repeated attempts further complicates the process. While beast crafting already needs quality-of-life improvements, synthesised crafting feels like a poorly designed system.

3. Even external tools like Craft of Exile lack detailed information on synthesised implicits and their weightings. This information is not publicly accessible, making the process even more opaque and frustrating.

4. The cost and odds of rolling three desirable implicits are astronomical, requiring thousands of divines and 20–40 hours of repetitive beastcrafting. As mentioned, this process is overly convoluted and poorly designed.

5. Synthesised crafting is inaccessible to 99.99% of players and is only viable for a small, elite group, making it feel disconnected from the broader game experience.

6. RMT mirror shops are the primary beneficiaries of the current synthesised implicit crafting system. These groups often consist of players who don’t engage with the game in a traditional sense. Typically, one person gathers or buys the initial currency, another crafts the item, a third provides the mirror service, and a fourth handles the RMT or currency sales. One mirror item in mirror shop can earn 3-4-5 mirrors a day. This creates a parallel economy that exploits game mechanics for profit, rather than enhancing the gameplay experience.

I can get behind this thought. Remove it or make it way more accessible.

But at the same time, chase things in this game that 99.9% of people will never see or do is kind of part of the intended game design. So maybe it matches the vision pretty well and is actually fine? The idea of one day crafting my own mirror worthy item is a decent part of the reason I've been stacking more currency each league and improving on trading and crafting.

a lot of good points made here

The problem is that a bit too much relies on the 0.01% - and for many thing, its not like some of it is obtainable for the rest, its becomes that setup where only a full engagement that is beyond the 99% makes even worth doing. blah blah blah - all things said many times about many different things.

Unfortunately, all this stuff going core means you have more and more stuff not really worth doing for most, and only the current league mechanic can, sometimes, be enjoyed by everyone to at least some degree.
There is no mechanic in PoE i despise more than the high end beastcrafts, its one of the worst systems of all time and I can't believe GGG have just left it in its current state.

Synth implicits themselves are fine, its the concept of a "unique base" and is a great thing to have in the game. Rerolling them isn't fine as it defeats the point of a unique base.
What is kinda baffling to me - is that synthesis bases don't even drop in their parent content which is synthesis maps. Regular memory ones, cortex, uber cortex. Uber cortex used to drop 3 random rares with 3 implicits each but this is gone - i don't know why.

+1

every and i mean EVERY top tier crafting post on reddit looks the same:

2 pages, wet in tears, describing soul-crushing and coffer-emptying implicit crafting aka menagerie prison

10 lines of actual crafting

it is just completely detached from the rest of the game. im so grateful that simplex etc bases cannot have synth implicit

then there is the stratification of implicits - there are like 4 that everyone wants, and the crappy rest noone gives a duck. so it is not like it gives some actual variety, unique base or you interact in a decision-making proces. it is - what kind of +max charge you get on your great ring?
it is binary at this point - in part due to OBSCENE cost and tedium of crafting process that making settling on 'good' a non-option. sunken costs are too extreme to not aim for 'perfect' from the start

as an extra point - entire bestiary devolved into few crafts that should be moved to the bench and everything extra - deleted. red beasts should drop their 'craft items' when killed and call it a day. noone will ever 'craft' random unique boots or random unique helmet
that, or ffs update the UX of this mechanic. it is one of the WORST clunk in any game ever. why there is no way of telling what beast has been captured just now? 'inspect it visually' is bluntly said bollocks in modern POE. there is so much crap going on that actually knowing what I just one shot with screen-wide AOE is an impossibility
The only things I'd change about Synthesis:

1) If it is to remain within Bestiary, make the acquisition of Beasts easier. TFT is just too good to ignore for beast acquisition.

OR

2) Remove from Bestiary and restore Synthesis item drops in Synthesis maps. Introduce a new currency that drops in Synthesis content, with comparable rarity of the beast recipe used, to reroll a single Implicit line. Imprints can also be itemized and moved into Synthesis.

I spent about 2 mirrors making a Power Charge ring. I don't mind the currency spent for a BiS item, but acquiring the materials is demotivating to say the least.
I think because the synth crafting thing is so niche and small I don't see it becoming such a priority for removal but possibly some type of re-work to get more accessibility. Being as that typically these 3 implicit synth items are most of the time chased for mirror-tier type status of a build, this is a very small niche in the scope of priority, imo.
