Replica Badge of Brotherhood and Fortification?
The replica badge of brotherhood unique amulet has the mod:
"(20-25)% chance to lose an Endurance Charge when you gain Fortification" My question is how punishing is this for a melee attack build that would attack 5-10 times a second in endgame gear? I know the game tracks fortification stacks in the background beyond your current cap (default of 20). Am I to assume that ANY positive gain of fortification stacks would trigger the chance to lose an endurance charge, even if I was to gain more fortification stacks when already present at my fortification cap (depending on chosen gear)? I would have endurance charge generation from lucky blocking and when getting hit (block fails), so I just want an idea if I would be rapidly losing charges in high uptime endgame combat situations, such that I can't really rely on this amulet as a good source of endgame defenses through additional max endurance charges and fortification stacks. Interesting question and I wish I could jump right in and test it....
BUT If this is true (from the wiki): "The Fortification mastery that grants Recover 100 Life for each Fortification Lost does not recover life when you lose instances of Fortification while you are still at the maximum; you only gain life when your displayed amount of Fortification decreases. " then I would extrapolate this particular mod to work in the same way. While the game continues to track the fortify gains as you describe, the MOD only cares about when the actual numerical value within the game changes. So if you are already at maximum fortify, you wouldn't continuously lose endurance charges: that only happens as you are ramping up the fortify. So....if you have a reliable way to generate endurance charges so that THEY remain stable, then your maximum fortify presumably will ALSO remain stable, and you won't continuously lose endurance charges. The mod just forces you to have to manage both at the same time, otherwise your maximum fortify would continuously dip up and down with the charges, and then you'd also continuously have to roll the dice every time a new endurance charge popped on. If it worked any other way, you would basically never have endurance charges if you had non-champion or non-kingmaker fortify. This would sort of render the item broken and make it completely reliant on being permanently at max endurance charges through added minimums or ralakesh. Which, in turn, ruins the whole point of the item: max endurance = max frenzy Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jul 29, 2025, 12:33:47 AM

" Yep, people have been asking for that to change all league. If you want to use Replica Badge of the Brotherhood with things that make hits Fortify, like Perseverance or Celestial Brace, using Ralakesh's Patience to always count as being at maximum Endurance Charges works. |

" Ah....gross.....so it is exactly as the final paragraph in my post wrote. The item is effectively broken UNLESS you are permanently at maximum endurance charges somehow. That's terrible. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jul 29, 2025, 12:45:12 AM

I read that linked bug thread. WOW, so even forcing the game to keep you at your fortification stack cap still robs you of endurance charges by gaining stacks in the background.
I realize that GGG generally doesn't want a single item to be of equal or greater value than an entire ascendancy node (in this case slayer masterful form) but this interaction really kills the replica badge amulet. Giving up a boot slot to run Ralakesh is not going to happen because I'm already giving up a neck slot (probably the most valuable defensive slot next to chest) and my belt (Ryslatha for phys attack damage). I was hoping to use the replica badge amulet on a frenzy stacking non-ES reave trickster (ya I don't like ES, I'm a rebel) so I don't get instantly deleted in endgame when my lucky block fails. I guess I can still trying to run the build with the default max of 3 endurance charges but it will hurt. |
