Bone Rings on Mercenary - Do they boost all Minions
HI,
I'm running Holy Relic of conviction and looking to boost their damage. I have put bone rings on my Mercenary which give (for example) "Minions Deal increased Damage" I have assumed this (Even through its on the Mercenary) will boost the damage from my Holy Relic as it has the term "minions" Been searching for a while but i get mixed answers! " It will not. By default, equipment you wear applies to you. Your Mercenary is not you. A Mercenary wearing equipment that increases Fire Damage, or Minion Damage, or Physical Damage will not affect you in any way; just as playing with another person who equips such gear will not affect you, either. Your minions are affected by your Increased Minion Damage; nobody else's. |

Thanks for your reply
It was the fact it stated "minions" and not your minion which led me to believe this was a global "buff" |

That's perfectly understandable. :)
Path of Exile is... large, bloated, and complicated. If it had, in fact, specified "Your" minions, then that would be a further clarification that it does indeed only affect their minions. The general expectation of equipment worn by a particular entity is affixes on that equipment will apply only to them. Therefore the usage of "Your" would be superfluous. GGG typically only employs it in cases where either the general rule is not being adhered to, or if they consider the circumstances otherwise ambiguous and would therefore like to offer some added clarification. If you've a friend or guildmate who plays a minion build, you could try testing this by removing most / all sources of your own Increased Minion Damage (perhaps wearing a Tabula Rasa?), and clearing specific content - maybe a boss would be helpful for this - both with them and without them. You'll see that no matter how much their equipment & passive skill tree might boost damage, so long as they do not use any auras or the like, they won't provide much advantage to minions you summon.
