Spectral Throw of Trathus

I can't throw any traps with my Spectral Throw of Trathus. I gave the gem and my weapon (Arakaali's Fang) to my guild leader and it worked for him. I tried it on a sword also.

It looks like I'm throwing air.

On a side note: I am using the Dark Monarch Helmet, does the Spectral Throw of Trathus count as a minion?
