Rollback - can someone explain what happened and what to do to avoid this?

Sorry this may sound like venting but I really want to understand what happened here so I can avoid it in the future. I've never gotten so mad while playing poe. I was farming beasts for 7-8 hours. Went to the menagerie, bought bestiary orbs, took out the most expensive beasts and was moving them to the stash while I got dced. When I logged back in I had chaoses that I used to buy the bestiary orbs in my inventory, so I thought the beasts would be back in the menagerie. But they weren't, neither there nor in my eq or stash. Can someone please explain what can I do to avoid this in the future???

The instance on the server crashed. When this happens, your character is restored to the last server save point (hence "rollback").

There is nothing that you can do about it.

So this restores the character, eq and stash, but the menagerie changes are being kept is that what happens? It just didn't make sense to me that everything got reverted but the menagerie specificly didn't. Cause if that's the case couldn't devs make it so the menagerie is also rolled back? If stash tabs can be I don't see a reason why this couldn't, tho I know close to nothing on how this works in the back-end so I might be completely wrong.
