Finding new ways of getting the "PoE-fix" for me
So, it was always hard for me to explain what makes PoE actually so much fun to me.
Recently, after a big Youtuber made a video about it unexpectedly, I reinstalled Linux after I think 20 years. And what I found was, that tinkering with that new OS basically brought up similar feelings I had when I would come up with builds in PoE pre league launch. Then it suddenly started to make sense. It's the "coming up with interesting concepts" and then "encountering problems and start working on solving those problems" that connects those two activities. It's satisfying to me, to encounter problems, research for possible solutions, learn alot of new stuff and then getting stuff to work. At the end, there is basically the "playing the build" which here is just using the OS with all those new tools and realizing the new efficiency or potential for different tasks. There's alot of progress there aswell, which is why I'm a sucker for progression systems in ARPGs in general. It's been a long time, probably since 3.25 that I thought about theorycrafting when I was at work, but recently I couldn't stop thinking about the issues I'm having and how to solve them when I get home... it was incredible. So why am I writing all of that? Well, I guess it's a part of a self therapy session, but also maybe there are some people out there, that feel the same about PoE and are looking for something similar until hopefully 3.26 comes along. On the broader topic, I think Linux is actually amazing in 2025. It's not as convenient as Windows, but that's exactly the point. I'm already 80% there to have my Linux do basically everything that Windows does for me. There's one big thing that It can't do right now which stops me from fully switching and that's Xbox Gamepass, but other than that I think I won't boot up Windows much in the future. (I know I can cloud stream it, but that's more expensive and it's a waste while having a high end gaming PC at hand) Anyways, hopefully 3.26 comes soon, otherwise I might have to start completely reconfiguring my Desktop and start "ricing" :D *update: I'm at 100% now, got all my screens running in the configuration that I wanted and figured out my HDMI audio problem. Now I'm just waiting for my new SSD to arrive to have a seperate gaming SSD for Linux. I tried installing on NTFS before and the games wouldn't boot because of that. Minor issue is that I didn't get my G15 LCD screen running so far, but maybe that's because it's a roughly 20 year old keyboard lol. I haven’t been playing PoE that much lately, and I feel like PoE 1 leagues haven’t been the most exciting recently, so if 3.26 also isn’t interesting we would have to wait like another year for 3.17. I would take an economy reset so there would be new leagues to start from. The Linux video by pewds I saw on the internet made me what to reconsider it and play around with the customisation since the number of people using it has gone up significantly. I have a feeling 3.26 will be released on June…
