WTS Mirror of Kalandra

Why you should get yourself a mirror:

In case you were wondering what is the best hedge against inflation/deflation/any sort of unpredictable price movement in this game, let me tell you now, it is the Mirror of Kalandra. The main two items that can be used as hedges are gears and currencies. Why are gears and ordinary currencies not good hedges?

It is easy to see that the value of gears will inevitably depreciate over time, no matter how valuable they are at the early stage. The value of an item is determined by the demand for the item and the supply of the item. As the days go by, more and more items, powerful rare and unique items in particular, will be discovered, looted and traded. This is contributed by two factors: the surge in the number of players (especially when beta testing ends in a few month's time) and the increase in the level of the top players. Higher level players will go to higher level map areas and get higher level, better loots. Consequentially, more of such loots will be discovered and the supply will increase. The demand for the highest level items will no doubt increase as a whole since more players progress towards the end game stage. However, anything lower than the best of the best items will certainly depreciate. Just look at the recent trend for 5 Linked white chest. It used to be sold for 3 gcp. Nowadays people struggle to sell it for even 1 gcp. Taking a closer look at this example, one notices that not all 5 L are difficult to sell. Certain types, such as Energy shield 5 L are especially sought after. This is another point we have to take note : players are going into niche areas and are after very specific types of gears, and such gears can fetch very good prices. You may say that you do have the best of the best gears and that will be your hedge against depreciation. However, just look at the number of uniques and other items added during each game update and the frequency of such updates. Bro, you wallet is slowly shrinking without you noticing. What is the moral of the story? Gears are not good hedges against depreciation.

What about currencies like exalted orbs, gcps etc? Indeed, if the world of Wraeclast does not offer the Mirror of Kalandra, then perhaps the best hedge is exalted orb. Looking at recent price movements, in a span of 3 weeks, the exalted orb has gone from 9 gcp to 10, and i predict in a few weeks time it will hit 11. The demand for exalted orb is indeed seemingly very strong now. At the highest level of item crafting, the exalted orb is a must-have item. So why is the exalted orb not such a good hedge either? I support my claim with two reasons: the inevitable increase in the number of players and the inherent instability in the price of exalted orbs. As most players should know, the reason why we all form teams to grind in the Ledge, Fellshrine, the Dock and until recently the Catacomb is that each additional player adds 50% increase in quantity of items dropped. In case you are not aware, the drop rate of currency items is NOT affected by increase in rarity, but instead is affected by increase in quantity. As more players are involved in the game and as more increase in item quantity gears are used, more and more common currencies will be found, hence resulting in the depreciation of the value of common currencies, including the exalt. Wouldn't this affect the value of the Mirror of Kalandra as well, detractors may argue. While indeed, more mirrors will appear. However, the cross elasticity of demand for different Mirrors is very low. Each Mirror serves a different purpose: they replicate a different gear. The user is very certain what the outcome is. No one user will have the ability to purchase more than 2-3 mirrors in the entire PoE gaming lifetime, unless you are a cheater. Hence, whether the world has 10 mirrors or 30 mirrors does not make much of a difference to most people. Furthermore, due to the extremely low drop rate of mirrors, the number of mirrors farmed with the increase in the number of players will be still almost as low. The same cannot be said for exalted orbs. While its drop rate is low, it is not low enough for the surge in the number of players to have no impact on its price, since significantly more exalted orbs will appear. There are players will over 200 exalts in this game. Do you think he will charge his exalts a different price if there are 50000 instead of 10000 exalts? He certainly will. Hence, common currencies are not good hedges since they still depreciate over time with more players playing them. In fact, I foresee an "Exalt Economic Bubble" going to burst in the game. People are adviced to hoard their exalts because the benefit of actually using them on their gears is far lower than the benefit of trading them. The hoarding of exalts causes the supply to be low and hence the price to be high. The market distortion caused by the hoarding of exalts and the difference in its value and its price spells doom for exalt hoarders in the long run.

So, why is the Mirror the BEST hedge against inflation? The Mirror replicates an equipment in the game. Having a Mirror in your stash is as good as having a copy of the best item in the game in your stash. The value of the best item in the game will only increase, simply because it is the best and the rarest. It is especially good for player who are thinking of taking a break from the game. You never know what the economic situation will be like in months, to hedge against unpredictable price movements, get a Mirror for yourself. If you think you have the best gear in the game, get a mirror and duplicate it to double your wealth. If you are doing crafting of items and managed to get a 6 L ultra super high armour/ES/resis/asp/etc, getting a mirror and making a copy of that crafter equipment will save you thousands of fusing, hundreds of chromatic, alc, exalted, blessing, divine etc.

So why am I selling my mirror? Because I don't intend to play PoE for very long. Well, it is just a game, though one of the best I have ever played. I need better upgrades and I don't have any good equipment currently worth duplicating.

Get your Mirror of Kalandra today.

Post your offer here, starting from 35 ex.

keep ur mirror , no one will pay 37 ex for it ...

The price is from 25ex to 35ex only . Very rare ppl will buy it for 35ex even. If u think Mirror is like what u said then why u want to sell it away ?

If the price of exalted keeps rocketing in the future , ppl wont never afford to buy gears anymore , and if they dont buy , those gear value will be decrease and exalted's value will be either . That' how real economy works , nothing goes up or down forever , they run in circle ... Take the real estate as example , there was golden age for them a few years ago , but now they are dead , and house's price now keeps going down like shit ...

might be the best game ever played to someone that is lucky but when u run 500+ maps with high iir and iiq and the best item found is a titanium shield, then the game is a piece of shit

RnG.. i've played since day 1 of OB, have done WAY more than 500+ maps, usually have 100+iq/400+IR, and i've only found 1 x shav wrap so far, n 2nd best drop is a taryns shiver, that's it. n it took me like 3 months before i found the shav =/

and as for crafting.. well over 100+ exalts spent n nothing close to mirror worthy.

takes an unlucky person to understand how an unlucky person feels lol.

WTB Godly MF witch gear : http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/346658
Paying VERY well, just let me know if u have upgrades for me
The fact that you were able to spend over 100 exalts on crafting alone shows that you are not that unlucky after all. How many players can even amass a wealth of 50 exalts, half of what you have spent on crafting alone.
