Ive just deleted my path of exile account
I made a political statement online in game in g7 and was muted for my opinion regardless of the stance I took. In light of this, I've decided to delete my account and all characters associated with it. As a long time supporter of this game this broke me, and was a very difficult decision to make, but I will not allow myself and my opinions to to be censored or suppressed by a mod with political inclinations. Therefore let this be my last interaction with GGG and my final sign out, because I do not support nor will accept the censorship of opinion regardless of political ideology. It was fun while it lasted but its probably time to move on anyway. Thanks for the many years of good fun and exploration. I will not comply with your so-called moral compass. There are better things to look forward to. Good luck with your future endeavors. I wish nothing but the best for you.

" Your ability to misconstrue situations is impressive. The Code of Conduct states the following; ”Don’t: Discuss inflammatory topics, such as Politics or Religion” They used to allow topics like that to be discussed. Their moderators hated it because those subjects resulted in way more discussions in-game (and here in Off-Topic on the forum!!) requiring warnings, mutes, and temporary bans getting handed out. Other players hated it because a small minority never talked about anything other than those subjects, and they tended to drown out any other conversation in chat. So they decided on a blanket policy of “never discuss them at all.” Global chat in-game and the Off-Topic forum section are so vastly improved they’re unrecognisable. Stuff like politics and religion just always got weirdly heated - and tbqh a lot of the time it was Americans ranting about their domestic politics. I’m European and I wasn’t interested. All of GGG’s moderation staff are in New Zealand; I doubt they were remotely interested, either. So, no - the moderator wasn’t trying to silence opinions they personally disagreed with. Other players reported you for breaking the rules. Moderation in Path of Exile (and in Path of Exile 2) is report-driven; GGG don’t have enough staff to pay people to sit there in all Global & all Trade chats 24/7. The moderator read the reported message, was - correctly - satisfied it constituted a rule violation, and took the appropriate action accordingly. If you want to discuss politics online, start a blog or register an account on the social media platform of your choice. Other people, from other countries, with no interest in the politics of whichever country you personally happen to live in, want to be able to just relax and play an online game without being subjected to constant arguments in the in-game chat. My opinion of GGG’s moderation is overwhelmingly negative. But, in this case - and somewhat amusingly, having only heard your side of the story - I support GGG wholeheartedly. Bye, Felicia. Their only responsibility is to continue doing what they have always done - posting in a friendly and constructive manner."

I'd love to dissect the intricacies of your reply, but I'm really not interested anymore. While ID love to see exactly which part of my mute was quoted by the other users of g7, I highly doubt that is the case. I'm sorry my opinion broke the rules. I'm a gamer, not a vlogger, and therefore have no interest in creating a webpage, as you suggest, to propagate my opinion, as you suggest. So even though you make a barely valid point, I did not set out to make one at all. My passing commentary was treated as though it was a case in point. So thanks but no thanks. I'm not sorry I was here. I'm sorry that you can't accept my presence.

" Regardless of the stance you took...? I don't particularly like censoring, but banning all political discussion is FAR better than banning some opinions based on your personal beliefs. |

" Whether players like it or not, GGG was very clear on this. There wasn't any gray area. " GGG allowed a LOT of leeway on discussions. I was surprised and pleased that they allowed players to talk as adults. Some threads got very heated. I appreciated the fact that I could discuss topics with people around the world, some of who agreed and some who disagreed. During that time, there was no silencing responses with upvotes/downvotes or needless moderation. I wasn't happy about GGG's decision to stop allowing that, but I respected it. This is their game and they let people speak far more freely than most forums would. I don't think it was so much about warnings, mutes and temporary bans (in the forum discussion). I strongly believe it was one particular thread that had several hundred pages. I believe it was one particular post that GGG decided was just too much. I know which post it was. I won't link or say what the post contained. As much as I miss the discussions, I respect that GGG decided their focus should be letting people play the game without being offended by other players - to a reasonable extent, you can't stop everyone from being annoying. I'd prefer to have GGG spend their time and resources on the game, rather then paying more people to police the forums.
