Always Online, or offline capable?

As someone frustrated with that new release which is always online, I started looking at this game. Looks really, really good but it left me with a question: is it an always online title, or is it possible to play offline? I ask because I'm leaning towards buying a starter package to help support the devs, but I'd like to know for a fact before I throw money in. Its not that I'm against it, but having the option to play alone and offline is always nice.

The game is free so you can't really expect them to develop it as offline shareware. What would the business model be, "please take our game and go"?

The multiplayer aspect of the game is not forced. Unless you're in a party, there wont be other people running around killing stuff in front of you. The game is, however, online only.

Fair enough, I probably should have read more of the FAQs before I got started. Still, I'll probably be getting a supporter package to help these devs out. Its a pretty awesome looking game, and I can overlook the online only.
