Physical damage conversions
"Yes. If it helps to think about it this way, "convert 50% of physical damage to fire" is the same thing as "Add 50% of physical damage as fire, and remove 50% of physical damage" So in your example, you have: Add 30% physical as fire Add 50% physical as fire and subtract 50% physical which obviously totals to adding 80% of your physical damage as fire damage, and losing 50% of your physical damage, leaving you with the 80 fire and 50 physical.
"It is true, Avatar of Fire didn't convert "100% of physical damage", it converted "all" physical damage - this meant any physical damage which wasn't already taken away by other conversions. It's not supposed to be possible to reach > 100% converted, but if it wre, that's what would happen (which is why it's not supposed to be possible).
Those items may have values reduced in future, but for balance reasons, it's been decided that conversion will be scaled down in future to avoid going above 100%. Damage conversion from skills will not scale.
Example: " Lightning Arrow's conversion is from a skill, so will always be the listed value of 50%. Since the other conversion exceed how much physical damage there is to convert, they will scale down evenly until they do not. In this case, since they add to 100% conversion and there's only 'room' for 50%, the values will all be halved. That means you end up with: Darkscorn Maraketh bow: convert 12.5 phys to chaos. Blackgleam: convert 25 phys to fire. Hrimsorrow: convert 12.5 phys to cold. Lightning Arrow: convert 50 phys to lightning. Total conversion thus will be only 100%. It will be impossible to reach 100% only from non-scaling skill conversion. |
