2 things....

Nobody has hammered down where toon came from.

I've seen people deny that it existed as late as 1991 in MUDs... and I don't believe that I ever heard it back in 1994-1995, as well as others that deny hearing it back then on some forums.

This dates toon to somewhere around the UO/EQ era perhaps.

I agree on too many levels to comprehend.

I personally hate when I hear someone say "toon"... But I mean, I've learn to bottle that rage and use it for more constructive purposes.

Agreed. This if I'm not mistaken is the terms true origin. People connect the term to WoW players and immediately want to go on a " go back to WoW" speel when they hear it:P
But it is relatively appropriate.

I hear you. Best group of people I have ever delt with in a MMO.

If I posted what I thought of Shadowlands I would be banned from this game for life :)

I should ask some of my other acquaintances from the early 90's if they remember the use of toon, prior to UO/EQ. I have a hard time attributing anything significant to those games, since much of what existed from those popular games came from much less popular games before them.
