Attribute question: Not adding up (answered)

Hi I'm very new to the game and I'm having trouble accounting for the attribute changes I'm seeing at times, particularly with Dexterity. I take off an amulet that should remove 46 dex, but I actually lose 101. Had similar happen with a helmet before mysteriously providing dex when it wasn't included in any modifier text. What am I missing?

The specific item I'm looking at now is my Carnage Heart Onyx Amulet.

*EDIT* I've been informed other items go red when amulet removed, causing more stat loss.
