To add more depth, you could play on the old "for science" meme when vaaling items and then use Cid's quote:
- "Because of science, humans who used to crawl around on the ground can now fly..."

Using a vaal orb on a rare socket-able item, corrupts it into something that provides the Dragoon ability Jump. An ability that prevents all damage to and from your character for a short duration, followed by a slam. Downside here is that your dps output is halted during the socketed movement skill's activation.
