New Western Boss Zero Drop Rate

Its basically the same. One time bosses are no-no tbh... HnS genre is about repeating content, there is no point in one time fights.

Increased drop rates in D2 for quest kills was fun because this makes this first fight special, rewarding and satisfactory.

No matter what 'no loot mode' is very dumb and lazy solution.
Srsly its not time to make game even less rewarding when you have so much negative feedback on nbeta forums about that issue GGG. And ots what youre doing for some reason.

If you really want one time fights - make them remarkable and hard. What is cool in faigraves ecounter? its easy like hell.

How unispired boss design can be? Fairgraves shows that... melle with adds... oh my so exciting!

but!

Add 4 devouring totems with realtively decent HP that will consume add corpses and heal the rest and boss. (summonned with adds).
Add minion summonnig ability to him (on small cooldown).
Add on hit effect (like 'ligtning enchanted' in D2LOD) to boss (resist check).
Add some skill to minions. Some curse i think.

three easy changes and fight will be 667657 times more interesting. And its tip of the iceberg.

But adding one time HP pinatas? With current unispired and boring design? Whats the point?
There is only one superunique mob in game that have interesting fight and can be 'one time awesomness' - general in Act 3 (energy shield guy). Good design, interesting fight and mechanics, challenging but in interesting and no idiotic OP way (like Oak for example).

Suggestion:

- you fight the captain as usual, get usual drops
- on first defeat, before death he detonates something, the road becomes blocked again
- he drops loot
- you report to the questgiver that you did your best, but shit happened, get reward
- on subsequent runs, he patrols the area, and anyway, the blockage would still be there, and anyway, nobody uses it, we use WPs...

Optional:
- new quest for finding another passage. Hire me and I'll share my ideas :P (kidding...)
placeholder for creative sig

Casually casual.

more interesting than usual hp pinata + kiting. Ha has both ranged and meele attacks and more than one defence mechanic (ES). Its good boss compared to rest main storyline crap.

Some bosses in maps (cemetery for example - very nice design of thi skele on the end) have nice bosess too.

no boss in this game has interesting mechanics, except Vaal Oversoul, and maybe Bear Trap guy in Sarn.

Piety? spam 3 kinds of lightning attacks (1st battle). spam portals. portal-jump. repeat.
be annoying as hell on Merciless.
General Gravicious? spam Molten Shell and fire storm. repeat.
Bandits? spam a couple of Marauder/Shadow/Witch skills respectively. repeat.
Merveil? spam Ice Spear and Cold Snap (1st form). summon tons of minions (2nd form).
Uniques? be a bigger, harder-hitting version of something. use normal attacks...

Vaal is the only one that seems to pay attention to what you are doing, tracking you, and selecting attacks or summoning minions accordingly.
and the really sad thing is, that was true for the start of Open Beta and it's still true now.
Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun

You should have seen how sad it was when we didn't have vaal. Bosses were actually pathetic to look at because all they do is just run at you and use standard skills.
remember the second form of merveil "before" the changes...omg! Would practically fall asleep it was so boring. Thankfully she only took a few seconds to beat and taking damage was completely optional (for any build)
Meh, I suppose they have some mechanics.

The thing is, one has to spec and gear to hopefully survive a desync in any content one is doing which renders anything non-desync, including bosses, nothing more than twat-until-they-drop.

Caveat; Map Piety being an exception. She is raise and cap resistances and off screen/melee-run-melee.
Casually casual.

Make him like Fairgraves, once defeated doesnt respawn (or his guards for that matter).

+1
R.I.P. my beloved P.o.E.
what we have to ask ourselves, is wether bosses like pindleskins, eldritch or shenk were gamebreaking in diablo 2.
