1H Elemental Shield...need advice plz!!

Comments on build please:

Goal: Tanky 1H + Shield Elem Damage (mostly fire) /w increased Block, Life, Armour, Attack Speed

Plan is to:

Get lots of life nodes
Get some good armor nodes (Ones close by, 30% preferred)
Upgrade 1H physical dmg when easy
Boost attack speed
Convert damage to fire
Take Lava Lash and Catalyse
Use Weapon Elem Damagae on main attacks /w Blood Magic
Keep mana free to run ruras for +dmg, +eva, possibly /w reduced reservation nodes taken
Take extra endurance charges when needed (pass by 2-3 naturally)

Is this viable, or am I setting myself up for heartbreak? I can tolerate not being the fastest killer, as this guy is my first ever PoE toon and in the worse case he can become a grinder for gear/currency for new toons.
