Periodically essences spawn without window displaying what essences are contained, or the mob modifiers. Partially opening essence doesn't reveal window. After triggering essence encounter mobs behave correctly and drop appropriate essences. The problem is that there's no way to know the mods of the monsters or what the essence modifers are.
