Worth Playing right now?

There is boss invasion event league 10 days total starting 24 december. Non-serious setting to check the game out after a break with some extra spice and you can forget about it when event is over.

my honest opinion: stay away

the game is decaying for the last 9 months and is in a bad shape overall, it's hard to justify playing it unless it has a good league mechanic, but, unfortunently, it's not the case

item krangle is useless
league mechanic loot is trash outside of few mods on krangled maps
league bosses drops are useless
new powerful unique items are for 0.01% (streamers, nolifers, rmtrs, abusers)
90% of builds are garbage unless you got 150ex to invest

3.17 can change things, but the situation is highly unpredictable

Depends on how much time you have to play and if you also enjoy Standard or only Leagues.

Scourge League is not that great so you are not missing much League wise. And it will end in a month. I for example am mostly a Leagues player so I personally wouldn't jump into League this late especially knowing that I only play 2-3 h a day.

But if you have a lot of free time or if you don't mind that the League will end in a month absolutely go ahead and play.

Other games much more fun now. Add here poe is too much demanding for casual. I mean, it demands too much of players brain for just a game to be played without falling in to 99% of noobtraps and nerfs and tons of outdated info, as it all now. Not even speaking of time, thats second..

Yeah, I've always felt that way about POE as well. Personally, this game doesn't feel fun at all if you don't sink a lot of time into it since there's so much stuff and to take full advantage of it requires a lot of time investment.

Due to COVID restrictions in my area and the fact that it's the holidays frees my time up a lot for the next 2-3 weeks and I'm wondering if it's going to be worth playing this league compared to others. For reference, I found Metamorph and Harvest pretty fun while I found all the other leagues pretty boring in comparison.

I'm also more curious about build diversity as when I played there were only a couple of good builds and it just seemed pointless to play a worse build in comparison as sure it was fun, but there was always that thought in my head that I would have been able to do X if I just went for that meta build.

I'm playing Grim Dawn right now. Awesome game to play HC too since you can play offline. I just got fed up with the way you need 150ex just to have any chance at doing endgame, and then you choose a build and some streamer does it, then it's 40ex for a single cluster. Fuck this, i already have a job irl =/

The sad thing is, that some people ACTUALLY believe this crap ("150 ex"), and spread this bullshit as a "fact" in threads like these. Misinformation at best, a direct lie at worst.

what ppl? 0.1%?
it doesn't matter that something costs 0 ex in ssf, it still costs time

you need ridiculus time investment (aka no-life) to do all endgame including the feared in ssf

it may vary from 250 to 400 hrs depending on your skill level/build, even seasoned streamers do endgame abusing meta builds in 100-150 hrs minimum

You're not going to find your answer here, especially not in General Discussion. Every league has a mechanic that lands with some but so much for others. The game is fine for those that are enjoying it. I'm personally enjoying scourge, even though I think they missed the boat -- specifically the risk/reward aspect of krangling items. Every map is like two maps in one with significantly higher IIR the further you progress in the alternate reality.

GD has quite a few people that have a tendency to project their own misery into sweeping statements about the game state. Some of them play the game still, for reasons that are beyond me, while actively stating how bad the game is. Then there is another group that quit the game a long while ago, and consistently comes back to GD to bash the game that they no longer play (and really have no clue as a result of not playing). Your thread has already attracted a few of them.

All that to say, the only person that can really answer your question is you after you've tried it. The game is free. The only thing you have to lose is time. I would say you would be able to make a somewhat but not completely informed decision about the state of the game within a few hours of playing.
