Lazy load problems

Hi there. Is there a way to turn off or opt out of the lazy loading of textures and assets?

A LOVE this game, but if I am to die, I would rather have it be to a boss than to some unseen, unloaded enemy or environment ability...

There is no way to opt-out of that. An SSD is mandatory for 99% of things nowadays (Not JUST for this game; this goes up to 100% if you're using Windows 11) - using an HDD WILL cause crashes, and in some cases, full unavoidable reboots of the machine.

Thankfully, SSDs (Assuming you do NOT buy from a well-known OR KNOWN bad manufacturer) are CHEAP. By CHEAP, I mean around or under $120USD for 1TB drives. AVOID NAS - these are meant for server usage ONLY.

Yes, I remember the days of these drives being very, very expensive. EIGHT (8) TB+ SSDs are still expensive, and you don't need 'em unless you're hogging OSTs.

There must be something wrong with mine, then... because the game is installed on an ssd... I'll look into it.

Check your connection mode, is it lock step or predictive?
If it is predictive and you play a high movement speed character (or even if you get some lag spikes/packet loss) you can end up in a situation where the client (your PC) displays where it thinks you should be but the server can have you somewhere else, on burning ground/ in a large pack of monsters for instance.

Another thing to look out for is how full your SSD is, as they can start taking a performance hit past 70% capacity, which gets worse the more full the SSD is.

Also seen a techs youtuber show that heat can be a problem, a 2.5 inch one would normally be fine but some of the m.2's require cooling and one of them had the bright idea of having led lights on it, which caused it to overheat to the point that the PC wouldn't load into windows

Thanks for all the answers. Will check and see what happens
