received damage conversion
Hi, I am building a shadow and I was wondering about the difference between "damage taken" and "damage taken when hit" - the difference between "Cloak of Flame" and "Arctic Armor"
Also, what would happen if I used more than one of these effects? Let's take this example: I have "Darkscorn" and "Cloak of Flame" equipped with lvl1 "Arctic Armor" active. - "Arctic Armor" has "-6 physical/fire damage taken when hit" - "Cloak of Flame" has "20% of physical damage taken as fire damage" - "Darkscorn" has "25% of physical damage taken as chaos damage" As far as I understand this is what will happen when something hits me for 100 physical damage: Scenario A: ------------ Physical damage = 100 100 - 6 = 94 (Arctic Armor) 94 - 94*(20/100) = 75.2 (Cloak of Flame) 75.2 - 94*(25/100) = 51.7 (Darkscorn) Damage received is: Physical damage = 51.7 Fire damage = 18.8 Chaos damage = 23.5 And then your resists and armor are applied. This means that the "-6 fire damage taken when hit" from "Arctic Armor" does not work in this scenario since it is applied before the conversion from "Cloak of Flame". Scenario B: ------------ Physical damage = 100 100 - 100*(20/100) = 80 (Cloak of Flame) 80 - 100*(25/100) = 55 (Darkscorn) Physical damage = 55 - 6 = 49 (Arctic Armor) Fire damage = 20 - 6 = 14 (Arctic Armor) Chaos damage = 25 And then your resists and armor are applied. In this scenario "Arctic Armor" will reduce 12 damage instead of 6. Which of these scenarios are correct? What do you guys think? An official response would be great :) Thanks |

IIRC, it goes damage% conversion, armor/resists, flat reduction, so Scenario C.
If I have two fish, and you have three fish, how many fish do we have?
None. These are MY fish. |

"It's answered somewhere in these forums. I suggest doing a google search of Mark_GGG's posts. Either in the mechanics or unique items thread. Here is something that should help. " The proper order is Conversion -> Armor/Resistance -> Flat reductions -> Percent reductions. By the way your conversions are so wrong. 100 Physical Damage after conversions is: Physical =100 - (100*.25) - (100*.20) =55 Chaos = (100*.25) = 25 Fire = (100*.20) = 20 Last edited by FaceLicker#6894 on Apr 7, 2013, 7:56:47 PM
