Why am I not inflicting poisons?

Hi

This is the character https://pastebin.com/s0ME6Nyb

I should have 70%+ to inflict poison, but the only skill that does inflict it, is the Shield Charge - why?

Also, Shield Charge is the only skill that spawns Sentinels from Herald of Purity - why?

I cannot understand why this is...

Hi.

Sentinels are only spawned if YOU kill a mob or YOU hit a rare/unique.
The traps arent you, they are their own entitiy and thus cant spawn sentinels.

However this can be bypassed with DoT dmg applied by traps which is weirdly enough attributed to your character. Probably because the trap is already dead when the mobs dies to the DoT.
For the exact same reason stuff like life recovery provided by Hired Killer shouldnt work with traps.

Thats an easy way to find if does work or not.
If you do get healed by Hired Killer bypassing the trap restictions via DoTs does work.

A way to determine whether your poison is applied or not would be Virulence stacks needed to spawn your Agony Crawler.
If it does spawn while you are throwing traps the poison is applied and there should be a corresponding icon shown in the buff bar at the top, ranging from 0-40.
If this icon does show up and the number does increase while you are throwing traps you are poisoning mobs.

There is no reason why this shouldnt work with your current setup.
Hi Orbaal

Thanks for the explanation. The Sentinel part makes good sense, but the poison stuffs just weird. The Virulence never stacks, and I've tried different gem og item setups but nothing works. So with no poison, no Crawler and no Sentinels via DoT.

Do I perhaps need to have "added chaos dmg" to inflict the poison?
Added chaos shouldnt change anything.

Now the description for the Agony Crawler says YOU need to poison to spawn it, which you never do or rather only when you are using shield charge.
The traps may very well apply poison but it wont stack Virulence, same thing as before with the sentinels.
Didnt read the description so that one slipped through ;)

However the traps should still apply poison and deal dmg accordingly.
I just cant think of way to verify it ingame other than using a physical spell in your trap setup that doesnt kill the mobs and doesnt apply bleed so you can then check if their life slowly goes down due to poison.

I think bladefall would be a good choice to test this.
Make sure to remove other dmg sources in your setup so you cant outright kill mobs, go to a lowlvl zone and check if their lifepool degens over time.
Bladefall doesnt apply bleed, so if the mobs lifepool does degen it can only be poison.
Crap, so I do apply poison it just doesn't summon the Crawler... Might as well change Agony for Malevolens
You sure can but you´d sacrifice the 20% chance to poison HoA grants you and your traps.
